HEAD COACH JOHN NEWBERY

Coach John Newbery (Cumberlands ’09) begins his first season head women's soccer coach at Milligan.

Newbery spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Point Park University, an NAIA institution in Pittsburgh. The Pioneers went 14-4-3 in conference play and won the River Stats Conference regular season title in 2020.

2022 STORYLINES

Next Step - The Buffs are looking to improve upon a total of one win over teams that finished in the top five of the AAC standings over the past two seasons.
Revamped Offense - Milligan graduated its top offensive threat from 2021, Ellie Cachiaras. She led the team with 13 goals and 31 points.
Grad School - The Buffs have three fifth-year players on the roster to help bridge the gap in coach Newbery's first season.

KEY RETURNERS

Isabella Cranford

Graduate center back Isabella Cranford is a two-time All-AAC selection with 59 career starters.

Ashlen Burch

Senior forward Ashlen Burch was the Buffs' second-leading scorer each of the past two seasons. She was an All-AAC First Team selection in 2019.

Three nonconference games precede a 14-game AAC schedule.
The AAC sponsors a 10 team conference tournament.
The AAC's two automatic bids to the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship are given to the regular season champion and tournament champion.
