Term 2a, week 4

School trip: The Discovery Museum

The first part of our class project, Newcastle upon Time!

Arriving at the museum and meeting the musician and filmmaker who are helping create our project!
The first part of the day was exploring the exhibit ‘Newcastle Story.’ This was a really interesting and the children completed a scavenger hunt as they went round.
Before lunch, we also went into the science exhibit. This was really interactive and everyone loved trying the different experiments.
To finish off the day, we went and looked at some archives. This was a fantastic opportunity to study primary sources about our local area.
The following day, we used what we learnt from the trip to create a timeline and discuss what are key interests were.
Attendance award!
Year 3 won the attendance award for week three! We got to celebrate this as a class by playing board games together on Monday afternoon.
Science: light
We continued our work about light. This lesson we focused on the science behind the experiment from Friday. We learnt about how we need light to see and how light travels.
On Friday, we completed another experiment in science. This was about reflection and what surfaces are best for reflection.
Maths: problem solving
To refresh our memory about shape by completing a problem solving challenge. This was all about finding patterns.
PE: Dance
The class continued to explore their creativeness in PE during their dance lesson. You can see a recording of each groups routine on seesaw!
