Safety Tech Challenge Fund - Tom Farrell (SafeToNet) video transcript

So, I'm Tom Farrell. I'm the Chief Operating Officer of SafeToNet, our project was SafeToWatch. And that included two partners so that was us, SafeToNet. So we're a UK founded safety tech company, of which I'm the COO. And our partner was Anglia Ruskin University, Policing Institute of the Eastern Region, PIER for short. So this was a partnership of safety tech and academia working together to create a prototype solution.

So our aim and objective purely of this project was to create a prototype design of SafeToWatch with a degree of academic rigour behind how we created it, and get it to the point where at the conclusion of the project, we had an app version to demonstrate how this would work in the long term.

It brought us together with very like-minded organisations. And what was great about it is at no point did it ever feel like it was competition between organisations. Even just this week, I've been spending time with Cyacomb and DragonflAI, two of the other participants. And we all talk to each other and we're all friendly with each other, and we all recognise that we've all got a space where we can create solutions to help tackle online child sexual abuse.
