Drexel Hispanic/Latino Colleague Resource Group
A Message from President Pablo Molina
E PLURIBUS UNUM – AND OUT OF MANY, ONE
Hispanic and Latino/a faculty and staff members contribute much to the mission of Drexel University. We bring diverse perspectives, cultures, and mindsets to solve the challenges of the institution. We guide and aid our peers and students. For those interested in learning more about modern Hispanic and Latino/a culture, I recommend watching the works that the Academy recently recognized with Oscars nominations and awards: Encanto, Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley, Alberto Mielgo’s The Windshield Wiper, Ariana DeBose in West Side Story, Penelope Cruz in Parallel Mothers, and Javier Bardem in Being the Ricardos, among others. Enjoy the show!
Board Member Spotlight
Bienvenidos will be featuring our Board Members in every newsletter and highlighting the great work they are doing both at Drexel and within the College Resource Group.
Vanessa Herrera, Academic Advisor Undergraduate Student Services
What do you love most about your job? As an academic advisor, I love most the relationships built throughout the years when advising students. Watching them start off as freshmen and then seeing them during graduation is one of the most rewarding feelings.
What do you enjoy doing on your time off?During my time off I enjoy spending time with my puppy, Nairobi. I often take her on walks and car rides with me. I also enjoy reading and joining book clubs, currently enjoy reading romance and novels.
What do you like about being part of Bienvenidos? What I like the most about being part of Bienvenidos is networking with other Latinx colleagues and also working with the Bienvenidos Board
Fun Fact: I am left handed but play all sports with my right hand! 😝
