Announcing the 2022 Award Winning Projects

Greetings!

We are delighted to announce the recipients of the 2022 Gold Award of Excellence, the Spotlight award winners and the Classic award winner. As part of the Council’s effort to gather and share information, ideas, and best practices, each year we invite volunteer organizations to submit their projects and events in support of their orchestras for award consideration. Every year, we are awed by the submissions, which display boundless energy, imagination, creativity, and most importantly, the commitment to local orchestras and classical music as an art form. We appreciate and congratulate all of the organizations who took the time to enter and share their successes with us.

The winning projects display a range of ideas and approaches that will be sure to provide inspiration! Please enjoy this “first look” and plan to attend the 2023 League of American Orchestras National Conference in Pittsburgh this June where these projects will be showcased. Click here to register for Conference. Entries are now being accepted for the 2023 Gold Award. Learn more about the Gold Award including the online submission form.

Gold Awards of Excellence

“PRESIDENT'S LUNCHEON AND STYLE SHOW"

Cheryl Byington, President

“A classic never goes out of style! Our President’s Luncheon and Style Show gave us great ideas on how to dress for concerts and balls as well as volunteer activities in support of the Houston Symphony.”

A style show and a volunteer fair for attendees to learn about and sign up for upcoming events proved to be the recipe for increased engagement!

“70th ANNIVERSARY GALA CELEBRATION"

Cindy Olmanson, President

A Kentucky Derby party successfully raised “fun and funds” for the Friends of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra’s annual luncheon. This themed luncheon had everyone excited about “derby style” and ready to bid high to support their orchestra!

“SYMPHONY SPLENDOR GARDEN TOUR”

Pittsburgh Symphony Association

“Looking for an innovative idea to grow your audience? Consider this: take guests on an escape featuring the sounds of a cello as they walk through a bamboo forest. This is not a fantasy: it is the Pittsburgh Symphony Association Garden tour!”

“PICTURE THE MUSIC”

St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association

Kent McNeil, President

“For more than 30 years, the SLSO Volunteer Association has presented ‘Picture the Music’ as a cross-curricular art competition. ‘Picture the Music’ harnesses the power of creative expression to inspire students to get involved and stay involved in music.”

Darlene Link, President

The Volunteers for Symphony 2021 Car Raffle raised $22,000 for the orchestra’s music education programs by using innovative marketing strategies.
