This week in Geography, we’ve been exploring where our school is located. We started by learning about the word location and discovered that we can be located in a town, a city, a country and even a continent - all at the same time!
Next, we learned about aerial photographs and talked about how a bird’s-eye view means seeing something from above, just like a bird flying over. This helped us think about how we might spot our school from high up in the sky!
Why were we locating our school? Well, we’ve had a very exciting message from a school in South Africa! They sent us nine photographs showing different parts of their school and asked us to do the same for ours! This led to a fantastic discussion about what the nine most important parts of our school are to share with them.
The class had lots of fun working together to make this decision, and everyone felt proud to be part of such an exciting project. We can’t wait to share our photographs and learn more about their school too! 🌍✨
On Tuesday, we hosted a Hooks into Books session where we read a hilarious story called The Runaway Pea, which had us all laughing! We were thrilled to welcome some of our grown-ups to join us for the session, and it was wonderful to share the fun with them.
Year 1 have definitely been getting into the Christmas spirit this week, especially now we have been joined by a very naughty elf in our classroom! We have also spoke about The Nativity story and set our own nativity up!
On Friday Year 1 hosted their second class assembly of the year! They were all amazing and spoke with great confidence and pride.
