Did you know that if you personally invite someone to come to church - they are much more likely to show up? (It's not rocket science)
Jesus was a master of the invite. One such "invitation" is found in Luke Chapter 19. Jesus was walking through the town of Jericho and, when Jesus came to town, news traveled fast and a crowd soon followed. Zacchaeus was there that day, and he had a few obstacles to overcome to get close to Jesus.
First, he was a tax collector - even more - a chief tax collector. He would not have been well thought of in the crowd of people. Secondly, He was a short man - and he found himself at the back of the line and couldn't see over the crowd. He, however, had a huge desire to get to see Jesus! So what did he do? He climbed a tree - just to catch a glimpse of the one he heard so much about!
So here comes Jesus, walking down the road and Jesus locks eyes on Zacchaeus. And here comes the "invitation" -- Luke 19: 5-6 says...
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
Sounded a little like a demand - but still, it was an invitation! Zaccheaus' life would forever be changed because of who he met that day! It started with making himself available for the invite.
How about you? Are there people around you that are struggling and don't have a church family to support them? Perhaps they are waiting for someone like you - to come alongside them and care for them enough to invite them (maybe be a little demanding) to church and sit with them and care for them. As I type these words Resurrection Sunday is just 6 weeks away. Please be praying about who you might invite to be a part of what God has going on here at Christ's Church of Yukon!
In Christ's love and leading!

GUATEMALA MISSION TEAM FUNDRAISER
Hello CCY!
The church-wide garage sale is just around the corner and we are looking forward to another successful fundraising event! The garage sale will be in conjunction with Christ's Closet and this is a great opportunity for us to come together as a church community, serve our neighbors and raise funds for our team going to Guatemala this summer. Both events will be open from 8 am - 2 pm.
There are a few things we would like to remind everyone about in preparation for the garage sale. First, if you plan on making donations for the garage sale, we will be ready to receive those donations at the church starting on Wednesday afternoon/evening through Friday afternoon. (March 1 -3rd) Second, If you have large items that need to be picked up, please complete the request form by clicking the link below.
Finally, we would like to encourage everyone to come out and support the garage sale! We will have the garage sale open on Friday evening from 6-8 pm as a presale for church members so come by and find some treasures. This is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow church members and help out a good cause. We hope to see you all there!
Spring is great time to remind us just how powerful and amazing our God is. Trees, flowers and grass that were bare or dormant during the cold winter months grow to become new and beautiful during the spring. What a great time to teach our little ones to trust in God and praise him for all He has made.
Giving our kiddos a BIG picture of God is one of the greatest things we can do for them. We can do this by showing them His hand in the little and big moments in their lives, and trusting Him always. This will help them begin to understand that all the good and beautiful things in their lives are there to serve as pointers to God’s goodness and beauty.
When they see a sky radiant with sunlight beaming through the clouds, when they go fishing at lake and watch the turtles swimming around in the water, when they are counting the stars or lying on their backs watching the clouds, or simply bringing you flowers from a garden– remind them of the One who created each of these beautiful and fun things.
Marvel at the outdoors together, but do not stop there. Look for God’s glory in His world and praise Him for it. Saying simple things like “Isn’t God so creative?”, “Wasn’t God so good to give us these wonders to look at?”, and “This sight is incredible, but God is so much more wonderful!” will instill a habit of God-centered appreciation in our kiddos.
The Senior Saints Small Group will be starting a new study tonight, "Thriving in Babylon" by Larry Osborne, a description of the study is below.
This is a great time to join in! Starting at 6:30 pm in the Library at CCY.
These are confusing times for many Christians. Traditional biblical values are not only rejected; it seems as if they're attacked on every front. It all happened at warp speed, leaving many of us spiritually and culturally disoriented or even fearful, frustrated, and angry. How can we spiritually survive in an increasingly spiritually hostile environment? And is there any hope for the next generation?
In this 5-session series, Larry Osborne introduces us to a man forced to live in a fast-changing and godless society. This man faced fears about the future, concern for his safety, and the discouragement of a world that seemed to be falling apart at warp speed. That man was Daniel, and with the power of hope, humility, and wisdom, he not only survived, but thrived.
Each session also includes real-life stories of people struggling to thrive in an ever-increasing godless society. Though Daniel lived thousands of years ago, he has much to teach us today.
