I love how they value my time and are great at providing me a loan quickly! For all my personal loans, I’ve never had an issue obtaining one. The process was quick. I’d recommend my family and friends to bank at IHMVCU. Proud to be a member for years! Thank you IHMVCU! – Crystal N.
We opened our doors (again) beyond appointments on February 16 after lobbies were closed for 12 weeks due to health & safety concerns from a surge in COVID-19 cases. Thankfully we remained open the rest of 2021 to complete 1,085,133 branch transactions for you totaling $522,292,914.
More and more of you continue to bank on your own time:
67,916 members used online banking to access their finances. 55,535 members did their banking on the go with the IHMVCU mobile app. 214,793 checks were deposited with the mobile app for a total of $94,337,380!
Card Controls is an easy way to monitor purchases and protect yourself against fraud for any of your IHMVCU debit or credit cards. 11,896 members enrolled in Card Controls with 9,132 members actively using this feature to turn off their card temporarily, set limits on card spending and track activity with real-time alerts.
While you didn’t stop at our ITMs quite as much as you did in 2020 when branches were closed, there were still 244,505 ITM transactions, totaling $90,842,460.
Overall ITMs have seen a 94.25% increase in the number of transactions since 2019.
Not only are you banking on your own time, but also in your own way:
28,976,686 debit card transactions. We’re talking $1,085,971,753 in purchases. 2,113,042 credit card transactions, totaling $131,327,548.
That’s a 22.6% spending increase over 2020.
7,064 members enrolled in Google Pay, Samsung Pay or Apple Pay with an IHMVCU debit or credit card.
In-store mobile payment app use will hit a milestone in 2021, reaching 101.2 million among Americans ages 14 and older. This comes after 29.0% year-over-year (YoY) growth in 2020. Usage is now on track to surpass half of all smartphone users by 2025.
Our Member Advantage program saved members nearly $200,000
After being stuck at home for much of 2020, you took advantage of every moment you could in 2021. Our Member Advantage program saved members nearly $200,000 on baseball tickets, hockey games, pumpkin patches, local craft beer, swimming pools and so much more. $200,000 is a lot, but we’ve got an even bigger number for you ...
Not only did we save our members money on local attractions, we also helped dispose of their sensitive documents. Throughout the year we hosted three Shred Days, where we collected (and safely disposed of) more than 12,000 lbs. of sensitive documents.
We know our members love cookies, but popcorn is becoming a fast favorite. We gave away 5,865 bags of G’s Gourmet Popcorn and Popcorn Charlie this year! That’s a whopping calorie count of...
Just kidding 😉
People helping people – it’s the foundation of all credit unions and the cornerstone of IHMVCU’s mission to improve the financial well-being of our members, team members and the communities we serve. River Bend Food Bank, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley, Kewanee Schools Foundation, USO of Illinois, United Way of the Quad Cities, Kewanee Area United Way, United Way of Clinton County, Iowa, United Way of Knox County Illinois
... and so many more.
The willingness to help people. IHMVCU has a reputation for being really helpful to the community as a whole, and I feel like when I come to work, I’m contributing in my own small way and impacting the lives of people I know. On the back end of things, they take good care of their people. – IHMVCU Team Member
We also announced the donation of 10 acres of land in Silvis to The Arc of the Quad Cities.
The Arc’s goal with the land is to create a self-supporting social enterprise that’ll provide job opportunities and training for people with disabilities who are looking for job experience, specifically in agriculture and horticulture.
“It was the perfect storm,” said Rick Schloemer, IHMVCU Community Outreach Coordinator and Community Funding Committee Chair. “We had land looking for a new home and The Arc was looking for land for a new initiative.”
IHMVCU really makes you enjoy your job. I feel very appreciated here. Lots of love, support, positivity, community events & team member/member perks really make this a wonderful place to work! – IHMVCU Team Member
Maybe you were a recipient of one of our Cash for Class Scholarships?
2021 was our 22nd year of honoring students who stand out in their schools and communities. We had 300 applications and helped 13 students pay for school by awarding $30,000 in scholarships. Since it started, our Cash for Class Scholarship Program has awarded $340,500 to 282 students.
Overall we gave away $54,000 through these contests and giveaways in 2021.
I love being part of an organization that is helping to improve the lives of our members and the communities they live in. – IHMVCU Team Member

Many of you probably remember we went through a major system upgrade in October resulting in major interruptions in our members’ online and mobile banking experience for three days.
To help you be as prepared as possible, we mailed out 412,447 informational flyers and documents ...
3,108 of you opted in for text message updates ...
There were 29,303 unique visits to our system upgrade webpage, with a remarkable average time on page of 4 minutes and 14 seconds. That means our members really took the time to understand how the upgrade would affect them and plan accordingly.
The system upgrade itself isn’t very exciting, but it was necessary so we can serve you more efficiently, provide better products and a more robust online experience.
Our IHMVCU Information Security and Fraud teams are constantly monitoring, collecting and analyzing data around member account activities and online banking logins. This information is used to run sophisticated data analytics and proactively detect potential fraud activities.
In 2021, nearly 1,500 suspicious mobile and online login attempts were identified, preventing the potential loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars to members. When a suspicious login or other suspicious activity occurs, our Information Security and Fraud teams work directly with members to further protect access to accounts.
163 people started their careers with IHMVCU in 2021.
You should keep caring about our team members both at work and in personal lives. I have found that this is the first company that really means it when they say they care about someone having a work/life balance. – IHMVCU Team Member

We moved into 2021 with hopes of a return to “normal,” but soon realized a “new normal” would be the outcome. Pandemic news revolved between positive and negative and back again. Like everyone else, we took it one day at a time while continuing to push forward onto better things:
- Welcoming 15,166 new members, bringing our total membership to 139,539.
- Turning your deposits into community improvements — lending more than $933 million through 26,444 loans.
But it's more than new members and loans. It’s giving back to members — more than $1.4 million in rebates, rewards and incentives, and $8,677,811 paid out in dividends.
Pushing forward to better things includes our focus on improvement. We implemented a new phone system in April to allow for better connectivity and shorter wait times. Although much improved from before, we fully acknowledge wait times remain a pain point for our members and appreciate your patience as we continue to find solutions for the best member experience.
We grew our ITM fleet to better serve you, with new machines in Galesburg, Milan and at 52nd Street – Moline (SouthPark). We expanded our footprint in June with a new lending office in West Des Moines, and again in September with the acquisition of Summit Financial Consultants with IHMVCU Investment Services. Last, but certainly not least, our system upgrade in October gave us the opportunity to improve your banking experience now and in the future.
Improvement = innovation. And as Steve Jobs once said, “Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity - not a threat”.
In this “new normal” of continuous change, know the two things that are constant: We’ll always look for ways to improve and serve you better, and we’re here as your financial pathfinder today, tomorrow and in the years to come.
Move Up with us,
