Chris McLarney Award 2021

The Drummac Chris McLarney Award was created in honor of Chris McLarney, a former Drummac employee. Chris served as QMP and Supervisor in Portland, for 20 years before he passed away after a long battle with cancer in 2015. Chris was a devoted Drummac employee and his enduring commitment to "doing it right,” continues to be an example for Drummac employees. Chris worked every day with enthusiasm and integrity and was highly regarded by his colleagues both within Drummac and also Amtrak.

Each year Drummac management solicits nominations from supervisors to nominate employees for this award. This year there were 14 nominations. The 2021 award goes to Lewis Green, Assistant Supervisor for the Amtrak Auto Train contract in Sanford, FL. Lewis started at Drummac after graduating high school. His commitment and work ethic have allowed him to advance within the Drummac organization.

An excerpt from Lewis’ nomination letter from his Supervisor: "Over the past year, it has not been easy being short-staffed with high car counts and high levels of stress, and Lewis continued to push forward every day. He never goes a day without going above and beyond with a smile on his face. He's adapted to changes we've had to make adjusting to the pandemic. He truly is looked at highly at our Sanford site by our team members and Amtrak employees and foremen. Lewis is an exact definition of what above and beyond would be… his work ethic, communications, and the positive vibes he brings makes our workplace a better place."

Lewis will be recognized with an award plaque and a bonus. In addition, Drummac/MER will also donate to the Pacific Railroad Preservation Association in Lewis' name to honor Chris' legacy. Below is a list of the 2021 Honorable Mentions who will also receive a bonus and certificate.
