The Elon University men’s and women's golf teams are spending their Thanksgiving week in Scotland as part of Elon's commitment to diversity and global engagement for its students. Throughout the trip, we will bring photos and stories from their time abroad.
DAYS ONE AND TWO
Told by Timmy Gannon

On Monday, we played our first round of golf on the Medal Course at Monifieth Golf Links. It was my first ever round in Scotland and was one I will never forget. It was cool how the natural topography defines how the course is designed vs where in the United States they will design it however they want even if it means taking out a lot of land or adding in water hazards. It was fun having to play different shots through the wind and really having to control your ball flight and shape shots.
We finished our second day with Dinner in Dundee City. Exploring the city was also a great time. The restaurant we went to had great hospitality and was very welcoming and friendly. Getting to cheer for the U.S. in the World Cup while being in the UK was also a cool experience. The food was good and watching the World Cup game with my teammates was time well spent. We wanted to see if the big name restaurants in the U.S. had different menus here in Scotland. We found this to be true with the menus having some different options not offered back in the U.S.
