What does it mean to be a Man of God
To act justly and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8 - He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?). A man of God must seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you). He must follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and meekness. (1 Timothy 6:11 - But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness).
The perceptions about a man of God is not what makes a person one. The man of God is the one who is observes or is committed to the great commission and sets an example for others to do so. He is not perfect and he does not enjoy having titles. But he chooses to be a disciple, have responsibility and interest in the family unit. The Man of God does not consider his family as a separate entity from the church, instead, he sees the church as an extension of his God given family and practices the gospel with his family. (1 Timothy 5:8 - But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever)
- Pursues Godly character (1 Timothy 6:11 - But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness)
- Fights for the faith (1 Timothy 6:12 - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses)
- Intimately knows God (Psalm 73:28 - But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works)
- Love for the brethren (John 13:35 - By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another)
- Have an attitude of a servant (Mark 10:45 - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many)
- Be the Spiritual leader of your family
- A good listener and does not judge
- Has integrity and uses his words wisely
- Has a generous heart (2 Corinthians 9:6 - But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully)
- Must be responsible (Romans 14:12 - So then each of us shall give account of himself to God)
- Good communication (James 1:19-20 - So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God)
- Diligent and loyal to his work both in the house of God and the workplace
