To help solidify our learning in maths, we used counters to create arrays. This helps with visualising the groupings.
English: Writing an alternative fairy tale
We have continued our work of writing an alternative fairy tale. The class worked in groups, discussing how they could change different fairy tales. They then decided which fairy tale to base their own story on.
PE: Dance
This week in dance, the class continued to work in their groups and created a new routine. This time the routine was based on the mechanics of different machines and how they change when broken.
Science: Light
This week, we started our science topic about light. As part of our science pre-assessment, the class tried out a new grouping for oracy. This was traverse and was a great way to discuss and share different ideas. They then wrote their ideas into their book.
Our first activity was investigating sources of light. We explored the school and took photos of different sources of light. After, the class created a table and categorised the photos as to whether they were luminous or non-luminous.
To record the results from this, the children then drew their own table and wrote in the different images into the right section. This was a great way of practising our scientific skill of drawing tables.
By the end of the week, we completed a science investigation to answer the question if we need light to see. The class made a cube with two different holes in and a picture at the bottom. They then placed different materials over the hole and gave a rating of how clear their image was. Finally, they shined a torch on the cube to see if they helped improve the visibility. This was all recorded in a table.
