Puppet People! Week 4

This week, our Year 1 class has been buzzing with creativity and learning! In Design and Technology, we were set an exciting challenge: to create a puppet that looked just like ourselves.

The children showed off their amazing skills as they practised joining fabric together using glue and staplers. After a bit of trial and error, they found that the stapler worked best, as it kept the fabric in place. Once they had mastered the joining technique, the real fun began.

The children designed their puppets by drawing on templates, cutting the fabric and using their new joining skills to bring their creations to life. We can’t wait to show everyone the finished puppets!

Do you like them?!

In Maths, some of the children have been working out addition number sentences. They’ve been using number lines to help them solve problems and it’s been wonderful to see them growing in confidence and working independently!

In English, we’ve introduced poetry in class. We have looked at different poems and have tried to identify patterns such as repetition and rhyming words. The children learnt a fun poem about popcorn, which they memorised and tried their best at writing.

Well done Year 1, for a fantastic (and very creative) week!
