- Congratulations to our TAMIU student and staff participants in the Laredo Theatre Guild International’s summer production of the Tony Award-winning musical, “Into the Woods.” Everyone did a spectacular job and we were thrilled to host this summer’s production in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. There’s nothing like live theatre!
- Kudos are also in order for the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program for their reaccreditation and to our A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The School’s MBA program has been ranked first among Texas’s Top Five Best Online MBA Programs by OnlineMBA. Details below.

- Q: How can YOU save Money this Fall Semester? A: Books IncludED has returned to help you save money. Costs for required books and course materials are now folded into your semester’s tuition and fees. - Next week, August 8 - 12, you may hear an occasional building evacuation alarm as inspection and testing of building fire suppression systems is underway. Please treat as a real event and evacuate as recommended.

TAMIU Registration for Fall 2022 Continues
Late registration for Fall continues through Friday, Aug. 26. The Texas A&M University System Board or Regents has announced that all A&M System campus, including TAMIU, will not increase tuition for this Fall, providing parents and students with relief from current inflation impacts.
- TAMIU offers nearly 100 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs. View TAMIU's Academic Catalog for a full list of degree programs at catalog.tamiu.edu
- Prospective TAMIU students can visit the Future Dustdevil Hub, go.tamiu.edu/dustdevilhub, a digital resource center for future TAMIU students and parents to learn about incoming student admissions, registration procedures and access How-To videos.
- The Registration Hub, https://www.tamiu.edu/reghub, offers insight into Registration with content, guides and resources specific to undergraduate and graduate students. It is designed in concert with both undergraduate and graduate advisors to provide students information on the registration process. It addresses issues like advising and holds, and includes a dynamic FAQ with answers and contacts.
- TAMIU students can access a universe of scholarships available to them in the palm of their hand. With a smartphone, students can now access thousands of relevant scholarships through "TAMIUFund$Finder," a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus. To begin, students need only visit go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder

TAMIU Dusty Camp, Transfer and Parent Orientation Sessions Set for August
Before beginning the Fall 2022 semester at TAMIU, incoming freshman and transfer students will take part in a time-honored campus tradition. Affectionately known as Dusty Camp, the two-day student orientation experience focuses on helping incoming students learn more about University services, academic expectations, and receive a first-hand experience of student life on campus.
Dusty Camps are expected to take place throughout the summer months, with sessions scheduled for:
- Dusty Camp V: Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5
- Dusty Camp VI: Thursday, Aug. 18 and Friday, Aug. 19
TAMIU Offers Special Outreach Event Aug. 20 to Help Students Ready for Fall
An upcoming summer outreach event created by TAMIU to help potential and returning students enter University this Fall, will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center. This free event helps students and their families finalize their plans for Fall with a one-stop shop experience.

TAMIU Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology Receives News of Extended MPCAC Accreditation
Congratulations to the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program on their recent reaccreditation by the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council! The Graduate School program, offered through the TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences department of Psychology and Communication, was reaccredited through January 2028.

TAMIU Creative Writing Student Wins Statewide Nonfiction Writing Competition
Daniel Tovar, Jr., a senior Mathematics major and Creative Writing minor, recently earned the top award in a statewide writing competition. Tovar’s nonfiction piece, “The End?” was the winning entry in the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers’ undergraduate nonfiction category.
Campus Safety Inspections Happening Aug. 8 - 12
Beginning Monday, Aug. 8 - Friday, Aug. 12, campus buildings will have their fire suppression systems inspected and tested. No impact is anticipated for building occupants; however, it is possible the building's evacuation alarm may be activated because of the testing. If activated, please treat an alarm as a real event and remember to evacuate to your designated emergency assembly area.
