What Does It Mean to Be Chosen?: An Interactive Bible Study

Brian Mitchell

Hello CCY, family! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Brian Mitchell. I have been attending CCY for about 12+ years now along with my wife, Jennifer, my son, Brian aka Little Man, and my daughter, Sheyenne. We love our CCY family and are grateful to have been given the opportunity to share our love of the gospel with you.

The Mitchell Family

In February of this year, I made a life-changing decision, one that has been a long time in the making, I started taking online courses at Dallas Christian College in pursuit of a Pastoral degree. CCY has played a big part in helping me take this leap of faith.

I love bringing the Bible to life, and when Clay first told us about "The Chosen" series, I knew I had to watch it. I was hooked on the first episode. My wife and I have watched both seasons and like the way, the film brings the gospel to life. The Chosen cast seeks to put you in the gospel by bringing the stories to life. From the calling of the disciples to the hesitation of Nicodemus, you will feel the emotions behind the print on the page as the Bible comes to life. The Chosen series follows Jesus and his disciples through Jesus’s ministry here on earth and ties the Old and New Testaments together. Showing he is the same God yesterday and today. The videos are anywhere from 30-60 minutes long. There will be a short discussion time to follow, where we can address any questions, anyone might have, and talk about the episode we just watched (They do take a little creative licensing to help the story along).

I look forward to sharing and learning from all of you as we take this journey together.

Happy New Year CCY!

Ms. Tori

I hope you all had a blessed and merry Christmas. It’s hard to believe it is already 2022.

With the new year comes a time to reflect on our lives and what we want to improve on or do differently in the year to come. I don’t know about you, but I am really good at setting a resolution, and a month or so into the new year I have forgotten or stopped working towards my new goal.

Preparing for the children’s new year’s lesson, I was studying Luke 18:18-27 and how Jesus tells us to leave everything and follow him. After reading those verses and spending some time thinking and praying about it the children were asked to identify one thing in their life that is keeping them from having a closer walk with God. I challenged them to write it down and work hard in the new year to give that one thing up and replace it with time with God.

Can you do the same? What is one thing you spend too much time focused on? Take the time and energy you spend on that one thing and try giving it to God instead. To make a change we cannot do it alone, we need God’s help. In Luke 18:27, Jesus says,

“What is impossible with man is possible with God.” I pray we all have a great 2022!

2022 CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Goals - we set them and try to aspire to them

Clay Parrett

As we turn the page into 2022 there is no doubt that many of you are going to set or reset some goals for you and perhaps those around you. (Some might even call these “goals” – resolutions).

One of the goals we came to rather quickly at a staff retreat recently was that we wanted to get more people connected and involved in the ministry of Christ’s Church of Yukon. (Some might call that “ownership”).

Sunday, January 2nd we start a three-week series entitled “It’s Your Serve”. In this series, we will walk through 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 and we will look at one of the coolest pictures painted for the New Testament church… The BODY of Christ. Each part is working together – complimenting one another for the purpose of bringing all Glory to God and pointing to the head of the Church – which is Christ Himself.

May each one of us reflect and think on this amazing thing that God set up – the CHURCH – and how each one of us has a part to play in the BODY to bring Glory to the Head – Christ Himself!

1 Corinthians 12: 12 &27

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

CCY Participation

I praise God for his goodness and your generosity! So many people are stressed out over the Christmas holidays because they have spent way too much money on gifts and gatherings and now the credit card bills are coming due. They haven't planned or budgeted for those expenses even though they come every year. It's obvious to me that many of the CCY family makes plans to be generous at this time of the year. The support that you give to the many community outreach projects as well as special missions giving opportunities is simply amazing! Thank you for your generosity and may God continue to richly bless you so you can continue to be a blessing to others. I honestly don't believe we understand the true impact of our giving until the day we arrive in heaven and saints from around the world come up to you and say “thank you!” - John Miller
