Read, play, and create with CHESS friends ALL summer long!
READ
Read your way through your own adventure!
The reading program at CHESS is relaxed and can be used as a guide to help spark some ideas for what (or where!) to read. Each time students complete ONE ROW they can earn a SMALL prize in the library. (Parents, feel free to offer your own targeted incentives!)
When students complete FOUR ROWS in any direction, they will receive a Take-Home Maker kit (PreK-4th) or a FREE mug or shirt to create in the Makerspace (5th-12th - one per student, please!)
Need recommendations? Try the book lists on our library blog!
For even more help finding great books to love this summer, try our Reader's Advisory for personalized recommendations for all ages and interests!
Whether your kids do a summer reading program or not, they should spend time reading this summer, and it should be enjoyable. Research shows that pleasurable reading - and a lot of it! - is the key to developing great readers. This summer, encourage your kids to make time for reading, then let them choose their books and create their own adventures!
PLAY
Come join us every Thursday!
Evening events will always include: book checkout, Makerspace time, and a video game room (as long as we can ensure supervision!). Special features may be offered on occasion, but mostly these will be relaxed evenings of fellowship.
Park events will always include the CHESS Bookmobile! Use the CHESS library catalog to browse our selection and reserve your favorites! All registered students have accounts - please email ameester@chesschristian.com for help accessing those accounts, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE - These are NOT drop-off events. Parents MUST plan to stay with their children!*
All ages are welcome, but we will also hold two additional preschool-only events this summer for storytime and play: June 7 and July 5 from 10:00-11:00. Please register!
CREATE
Students of all ages can explore and create our Makerspace during any of our Thursday events held at the library.
We are offering two High School Makerspace events. Come for lunch and time to create! (Spikeball tournaments will be held at these times as well, for students who would rather be moving!) June 7 and July 5 from 12:00-2:00.
