The Rationalization Of Physical Therapy Leslie Holt

Irrationalities:

Ritzer declares, “irrationality means that rational systems are unreasonable systems. They deny the basic humanity, the human reason, of the people who work within or are served by them." He also explains the costs of this, including “excessively high cost, false friendliness, disenchantment, health and environmental hazards, homogenization and dehumanization”.

The rationalization of physical therapy has made the practice less personable since its creation and has created other irrationalities such as excessively high cost, false friendliness, and homogenization. While technology has its benefits in creating a more efficient and predictable environment, the individuality of a person’s needs is put at jeopardy and patients become homogenized
