The Frenchgiving

Last tuesday, November 8th, the French Club organized their own version of the typical Thanksgiving. Instead of Turkey, they had quiche, instead of gravy, they had baguettes, and instead of mashed potatoes, they had macaroons. This is something they like to call, Frenchgiving.

“A Frenchgiving is just spending a nice moment together, celebrating thanksgiving the french way, while being thankful for each other’s company,” Administrator of the French Club and French teacher Madame Floris said.

Sophomore Sofia Cabaleiro, on the right, and freshman Ella Cordoves, on the left, loved the pastries and enjoyed Thanksgiving with a French twist.

“The Frenchgiving this year was so fun,” said junior Melanic Rodriguez. “My favorite part besides eating all the treats with Rachel Emmanuel, was trying to dance and understand the french music Madame Floris was playing.”

Even though the event was organized by the Fresh Club, everyone was invited to attend. The only requirement was to pay the five dollar entrance fee. Thanks to the amount of people that participated this year, the French club was able to raise a total of $207 for charity.

“The purpose of the annual Frenchgiving event is to spread the French culture among the lourdes comminuty and I think there’s no better way to do it than with some delicious pastries,” senior co-president of the French Club Nathalie Baboun said.

According to junior member of the French Club board Eva Parades, her favorite thing about planning the Frenchgiving this year was setting up and getting to place cute French decorations around the food and tables.
