Pre/K1: Making our EY garden - In Preschool/K1, learners have demonstrated a curious and inquisitive nature as they explored the various aspects of plants and their environmental significance while designing their own garden.
Y1: Plants and our environment -  In Science, the students in Year 1 are studying plants, which links to our current unit about our responsibility to take care of the environment. We have talked about the importance of looking at the different plants in our environment, what plants need to survive and the different parts and their functions. Next we will research which plants we can grow that can be eaten. Well done Year 1!
Y3 - Unit 5 was about how people create organisations to make their ideas happen and to make money. To learn about this the students all created pretend toy companies. First they came up with a company name and logo, then a product to make and sell, advertisements to sell their products and a role chart for their organisation. Finally the students designed and made a model of the factory where their toy product would be made. Pictured here are some of the factories.
Y5/6: Preparing for our mini PYPX - It was with great pride that our students addressed their parents about their intentions regarding their mini exhibition projects. Each group spoke clearly about their planning and preparation of their project and asked their parents for support and help at home. Well done to all of you.

EAL at UDIS: Learning about clothes

We have begun learning about clothes vocabulary and this will be our focus for the next few weeks. We have been reading the story "The Smartest Giant in Town" by Julia Donaldson. We were able to answer simple questions about the characters and the pictures in the book helped us a lot in understanding the story.

Student success at UDIS: Daniel in Year 5/6

Welcome to Daniel who joined our class this term. It is a nervous and worrying time when you are a new student in a new school but to Daniel’s credit he has joined our class with an open mind and has already started to create strong friendships with others in our class. He has shown that he is a knowledgeable student, who is willing to share his thoughts and ideas with others in our group. Congratulations, Daniel for a seamless start to your learning here.

School Board update

Last week our School Board met for the final meeting of the year in its role to oversee the education of the school and its policies and plans. At the meeting, the Board spoke about the importance of marketing the coming Diploma Programme, examined staffing for next year, set the Head of School’s targets and confirmed the school’s plan for investment in ICT.
