  • Consent Week is underway Feb. 6 – 10 with daily activities planned. Among the offerings: Consent Cab, a Rock Painting Party, Bystander Intervention Training, the What Were You Wearing Exhibit, free Valentine’s Day Candy-Grams, and MORE.   • Today, you have a chance to experience the artistry of TAMIU students with the 2023 Juried Students Art Show, Parameters in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery, now showing. A closing reception is Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5 – 7 p.m.
  • How about a cup of coffee this Tuesday? Join TAMIU’s Campus Police Department for “Coffee with a TAMIU Cop” from 9 – 10 a.m. at our Starbucks Coffee Shop in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.
  • The deadline for setting up an Installment Plan to pay your tuition is next Monday, Feb. 13. Payment plans can be processed online via Uconnect. See details below. Email the Bursar's Office at businessoffice@tamiu.edu, or call 956.326.2140 for more.
  • Tax season is here, and TAMIU’s A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business provides free tax preparation assistance through the Voluntary Taxpayer Assistance (VITA) Program for qualified individuals in Webb and Zapata Counties. It’s underway through Tuesday, April 18 at TAMIU's Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 126. Find out more.
  • This past weekend’s Spring Dance Days was great fun. Why not join in the March and April sessions? From Contemporary Ballet and Hip-Hop to Modern Dance, Ballet Folklórico, and Flamenco classes, it’s a great opportunity to learn about TAMIU’s Dance program and interact with renowned dance faculty members.   • Coming up next week is TAMIU Spirit Week, Feb. 13 - 18 with a broad array of Renaissance Fair-themed activities across campus. See the week’s schedule below and get ready for events like Medieval Monday, Kraken’s Karaoke, Crowns to Wings, Cart Decorating, a Renaissance Tailgate, Baseball, Basketball and Softball Games, and the presentation of our TAMIU Royals! Join the fun and show your Dustdevil spirit!
  • The TAMIU Alumni Association joins us Thursday, Feb. 16 for an Alumni Basketball game with great prizes. Other fun-filled activities include a baby crawl and turkey leg toss competitions. Alumni registering for the event will receive a replica TAMIU jersey, TAMIU Alumni promo bag, and be entered in several raffles to be held throughout the night.
  • COVID-19 remains a threat here, across our State, nation, and world. Recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing can help reduce your exposure risk. Learn more about free on-campus testing. If you haven’t already, bookmark our COVID-19 Response Center.

TAMIU Hosts Consent Week, Full List of Activities

Consent Week, sponsored by the TAMIU Office of Compliance, is part of an ongoing effort to continue to raise awareness in the TAMIU community about Title IX, on and off campus resources, and the importance of reporting incidents of sexual assault, sexual violence, and sex/gender discrimination.

Coffee with a TAMIU Cop this Tuesday

Members of the University community, including our students, are invited to join us at our Coffee with a TAMIU Cop this Tuesday, Feb. 7. During the event, attendees are encouraged to ask questions, converse, discuss their concerns and learn more about TAMIU UPD.

Mark Your Calendars: Spirit Week Set for Feb. 13 - 18

A very Renaissance-themed Spirit Week is happening Monday, Feb. 13 - Saturday. Feb. 18 at the University, with a series of coined events like 'Thy Taco Tuesday,' 'Rid Thy Plague,' a 'Swamp Rave,' and much more. It all culminates with the crowning of our newest TAMIU Royals Saturday, after a day of athletic events including Baseball, Softball, and Men's and Women's basketball games.

Additional Alumni Events Scheduled

The TAMIU Alumni Association joins us Thursday, Feb. 16 for fun-filled activities taking place during the TAMIU Women’s and Men’s Basketball game. Activities will include a baby crawl and turkey leg toss competitions with great prizes for the winners. Set Up Your Installment Payment Plan

TAMIU's online installment plan option is available to assist students pay their Spring tuition and fees. The deadline to sign up and pay before being dropped from classes for nonpayment is Feb. 13. The new plan helps to avoid long lines and reduces students' installments by subtracting the amount of financial aid to be awarded from the total owed. It costs $30 to set up the plan and it requires 25% as a down payment, with the other 75% due in 3 equal payments in February, March and April. Also, $100 late fees are already added to student accounts.

To set up an online payment plan:

  • Login to Uconnect
  • Click on "My Records."
  • Select "Pay My Bill."
  • Click on the blue "Pay Now" button. (You will be redirected to the payment site)
  • Enroll in a Payment Plan

TAMIU Provides Free Tax Preparation Help with VITA Program through April 18

Tax season is here, and TAMIU's A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business is providing free tax preparation assistance for qualified individuals in Webb and Zapata Counties through Tuesday, April 18 at TAMIU's Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 126. Tax preparation assistance is provided through the Voluntary Taxpayer Assistance (VITA) Program, an IRS-sponsored program that offers free tax return preparation and general tax helps to families and individuals.

TAMIU Athletics Update

TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
