Principal's Message
Kia Ora Koutou
Thank you for your support as we have been making our way as a nation through the industrial action.
I do need to alert you to a PUM (Paid Union Meeting) on Wednesday 28 June. This meeting will be from 1:30 pm for all PPTA members. On this date years 11 and 12 are rostered out. All other students will remain at school if normally on this site and will be supervised by non PPTA staff.
Should you wish to take students out that afternoon this can be done from 1:30 by alerting our school office and signing out.
Rostering home
On the days that have been notified, students in the named year level, will not be taught or supervised by PPTA members. If your child comes to school on their rostered day out supervision is by non PPTA members.
Teaching and supervision of other year levels not subject to the strike action will continue as normal.
Lateness and Attendance
The school day starts at 8:10 every day. The day begins with either a Chapel service, a House meeting, or a Deans’ meeting, and on Wednesdays and Fridays there are Assemblies. We know that students on late buses cannot always make these gatherings, but for all other students you are required at school on time.
As an aside rostered days out is not an invitation to take the following day off.
Financial Impacts
Andrew, Martin, and I have been fielding communications regarding fees and the like as a result of the Industrial actions and then the impacts of rising costs.
As a school community we are very conscious of the financial impact on our families during this period of an inflated cost of living. We continue to do everything we can to keep these school charges as low as possible.
The Tuition and Facility donations are an integral part of our ability to provide the key features that our families seek when attending Trinity Schools. It allows us to provide educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities beyond the required curriculum.
The smaller class sizes we value are also a direct benefit from these school charges. Government funding does not cover this. Our Special Character status, buildings, and facility improvements also reflect our commitment to providing the best opportunities for our students.
We can assure you that student learning is not being compromised with our teachers ensuring academic programmes are fulfilled and student learning is not undermined.
We thank you for your ongoing contribution and along with the rest of our community, including our staff, hope that these negotiations are resolved quickly.
Communication Tree
There will be times when you will feel compelled to contact school to resolve an issue or to get some assistance.
If it is subject related you should not hesitate to contact your daughter’s teachers for any subject specific concerns. Phoning is always useful, or you can email any staff member by using this formula first name. surname@trinityschools.nz
If the concern is sports related, then contacting our Director of Sport is your first step by contacting her at rachel.shearing@trinityschools.nz .
If the matter is pastoral, then the first point of contact for the students and their parents is the Whanau teacher. The next significant person in a student’s life at school is the dean:
- Year 7&8 - Mr Doug Davidson
- Year 9 - Mrs Abby Schaefer
- Year 10 - Mrs Lucy Clearwater
- Year 11 – Miss Alison Glass
- Year 12 – Miss Suzie Leckie
- Year 13 – Mrs Angela Lammas
- Boarding - Mrs Jo Booth
SLT pastoral oversight for year levels are:
- Years 7-9 Alison Glass
- Years 10-12 Sandie Sherwen
- Year 13 Kiri Gill
We also have our Chaplain Mrs Wendy Smyth should her counsel be required, and additionally our Guidance Counsellor Georgie Reid.
Please have a safe weekend and stay warm.

Boarding Note
Last weekend there was an outing for Boarders to “Clip and Climb” in Lower Hutt. It was great to hear the girls enjoyed challenging themselves on the various obstacles which from the photos, are not for the faint hearted! Many thanks to Mrs Keats and Mrs McIvor for making this trip possible.
Please remember the boarding houses continue to be open until the end of term. If you are able to notify us of any changes to your daughters boarding arrangements for the last two weeks, it would be most appreciated.
Have a great weekend.

Wright/Milne Cup and Kerry Duncan Memorial Plate
A highlight of the football season is when our 1st XI play the Wairarapa College 1st XI for the Wright/Milne Cup. Each game is always extremely competitive and played in great spirit. This year our 1st XI won the battle 6-4, with Mia Sayers being awarded the much coveted Kerry Duncan Memorial Plate.
