High School Science Department Instructional Assistant, Khun Linda, has worked at ISB since January 2005. Before she worked at ISB, she was a researcher, so she has a lot of experience and expertise with science materials. Now, as an instructional assistant Khun Linda helps with a variety of science needs from preparing for labs to answering questions.
Khun Linda said she helps both students and teachers because “If I help students, it means I help teachers as well. Because the teacher has many students in their class and one or two of them need some help, the teacher focuses on just a few students and there are other students who need help too. Then, when the teacher sends students to me, it means I help the teachers as well.”
Her efforts are pretty consistent because the number of school science staff is not enough to fully support all the students taking science. So the teachers try to manage IRP and IA days without overlapping. Khun Linda describes being asked many questions, particularly during grade 9’s IRP week, when she can get “more than thirty students in one hour”.
ESS teacher, Ms.Herbert said “Khun Linda facilitates all materials for IRP and IB, and even during ESS IA, I send the equipment lists to Khun Linda and she gathers the stuff and manages the room. She also orders science supplies for us.” Furthermore, IB DP2 Chemistry student Charlotte Lee explained “My chemistry teacher was busy so I needed someone to monitor my experiments for my chemistry IA. I explained the situation to Khun Linda and she offered me help without hesitance. Although Khun Linda was busy, she stayed in the classroom to monitor my lab.” Overall, both the teacher and student felt sincere appreciation for her help.
Khun Linda contributes to ISB through tremendous dedication and helpful assistance that she gives to both teachers and students. However, several students do not know her well and struggle to get the materials that they need or get help rapidly. Do not hesitate to contact Khun Linda when you need help! Her email address and phone number are attached below. However, there is one thing that you need to know before asking for help from Khun Linda. At the end of the interview, Khun Linda suggested, “I would like to suggest that they prepare themselves before coming to me because often students can only describe what they are looking for.” So please do know your materials name and ask about it accurately.
