Ay Caramba! Mexican Restaurant
I checked out Yelp for the first 5 restaurants that had consistently high ratings, with no negatives to be found scrolling down the reviews page. First stop:
Ay Caramba is a small Mexican food place literally hidden in Canyon Country. I've been there 5 times, and the service and food is 5 star. I love the warm bean dip they put out alongside their excellent salsa. You know from salsa, what you can expect the rest of the way in a Mexican food establishment.
"We ordered the banana & strawberry crepe and it was a homerun hit! Wasn't too sweet as it looked. I know for sure we found a new breakfast joint since they have mimosas, chelas (beer) to go w the menudo and sangria. Place looks like its family owned so thats a plus."
Note: They are. Very nice family too.
"It's tucked in a small business center, right across the street from the Costco Gas Station. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile from the owner."
"The Shredded chicken was well seasoned and the cheese was a good amount of "cheesy" and it just melted in your mouth. this place required my more mature taste pallete to come out to play as if I were at an upscale Mexican restaurant such as Javier's. Ay Caramba offers what I call "decadent" Mexican Cuisine."
Zankou Chicken
Lima Limon Peruvian Restaurant
Lima Limon Peruvian Restaurant up Bouquet Canyon is another decently kept secret.
"There was Peruvian music in the background. It was a lovely little lively restaurant full of customers.-The flavors were robust and really delicious."
"Very authentic, I've been to Peru and I would know. The place is small, but well worth coming either way. Staff is friendly as well. You can't go wrong with the Lomo Saltado and plantains."
"The food... oh God the food! We had a tasty appetizer of boiled potatoes and yellow pepper cheese sauce, and split the 8oz skirt steak on the pasta with the same sauce. Melt in your mouth goodness!"
"The Inca Cola is a Must".
Royal Tandoor Indian Restaurant
“The chicken tikka, chicken lasooni, chicken tikka masala, saag, and aloo gobi are out of this world.”
Royal Tandoor is located in the Valencia Bridgeport Marketplace. "The shades on the windows make it look a little drab and ordinary from the outside but the place is excellent."
"Still the best Indian lunch buffet in Southern California. I am an Indian junkie and this place is phenomenal. Go out of my way to eat here."
Wine 661
"This fantastic place is one of our favorite "date spots" in the SCV. Amazing place, intimate and perfect for a quick glass of wine or hanging out with friends. They have great food and beer too."
The wine selection is easily the best in the valley.
They have about 20 or so wines on draft and they use nitrogen to blanket the wines so they always taste right.
They have a larger menu of food than you would expect including Kobe sliders, paninis, roasted nuts, and of course lots of cheese and charcuterie.
Live music on Friday and Saturday (high quality rock) and they are open until 2 am on the weekend!
There you have it. 5 places you may or may not have found yet. I tried to keep them away from the well-traveled Valencia Town Center area. There are great places in every corner of the Santa Clarita Valley. Enjoy, and LET ME KNOW IF YOU TRY ONE. I'd love to hear about your experience.
