Innovate Capital Law Business Clinic accepting applications for 2022

Campbell Law School’s Innovate Capital Business Law Clinic is looking for a few good start-up businesses to receive free legal services to kick off the new year in 2022. The clinic’s Director Benji Jones will utilize her extensive experience working with start-ups to supervise up to eight second- and third-year Campbell Law School students. The clinic is located in Raleigh Founded’s (formerly HQ Raleigh) warehouse district location. “We are looking for about a dozen start-up businesses,” said Jones, the clinic’s co-founder. “The value of the free services they receive may range from several thousand dollars to more than $10,000.” Interested applicants should complete an online questionnaire as soon as possible, as selections will be made during December. This snapshot highlights a few of the datapoints from #CampbellGivingDay including a pie chart of gift designations. This was a record year for the law school in both dollars raised and donors. It was also a great day for Campbell as a whole, with over 2,000 gifts, the university surpassed its goal of 1,887. If you have already given, thank you for your support! Campbell Law professors featured on WRAL TechWire

Three Campbell Law professors -- Kevin Lee, Lucas Osborn and Benji Jones -- are currently featured as "LImelighters" on WRAL Techwire. LimeLight aims to provide the WRAL TechWire audience with meaningful ways to share praiseworthy news and updates statewide. Lee is the inaugural director of the Campbell Law Innovation Institute (CLII). He is also a tenured law professor and multidimensional legal scholar with more than 30 published papers in legal philosophy, professionalism and legal technology. Osborn serves as the director of the law school's Intellectual Property Law Program where he teaches and writes in the area of Intellectual Property Law, with a focus on Patent Law. This year, he created a virtual Patent Law Certificate program for working professionals – the first of its kind in North Carolina. Jones, director of the law school's Innovate Business Law Clinic, is a veteran licensed business attorney and a Raleigh native specializing in advising entrepreneurs and investors in capital raising transactions as co-founder of Innovate Capital Law. Learn more at this link.

Mallory Underwood named Director of Career Services and Professional Development

Effective Jan. 4, 2022, Mallory Underwood will join Campbell Law as director of the Career and Professional Development Center, which helps match students and recent graduates with employers for internships and jobs. Prior to joining Campbell Law, Underwood was a partner at Teague Campbell, where she practiced for more than a decade. There her practice included workers compensation, insurance coverage, automobile negligence, premise liability and employment law. While at Teague Campbell, she served on the firm’s hiring committee and was active in the firm’s student summer internship program. “With her extensive law practice background, Mallory is ideally suited to further elevate Campbell Law’s profile and placement across the country,” said Dean J. Rich Leonard. “Her professional acumen and legal community connections will serve our future graduates well.” Following her time in private practice, Underwood spent approximately five years mediating a variety of civil and worker’s compensation cases as a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission certified mediator.
