One last thank you to all of our generous Crawfish Boil sponsors!
Ms. Mitchell heard from the parents on Thursday - they were thankful for their kids, teachers, Drama Troupe, great weather, Legos, coffee and, of course, dino nuggies. Mr. Barrau and Ms. Carney's 4th grade class performed "Roar" for us. Dr. Craig Lotterman, a pediatric hematology-oncology specialist, and husband to our lovely Nurse Jo, gave us some information about how our donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraiser help people. Thanks, Dr. Lotterman!
Mr. Hughes and 4th grader Webb Johnston joined Mr. Hausman and Mr. Barrau to perform "Ain't That a Shame" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on Friday.
NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is proud to unveil the updated 2023 Special Education Resource Guide (CLICK HERE) for families, students and community members to better access the resources that exist across the city. The Special Education Resource Guide is a living document that contains more than 20 areas of assistance, with more than 170 organizations and providers. Resources to assist families obtain housing, extra-curricular activities, financial aid, transportation and employment opportunities are just a few of the categories the Guide contains. The 2023 resource guide also includes information about summer camps for students with exceptionalities as well as sensory-friendly events that happen across the metropolitan area. The organizations listed in the Guide are specifically for families, students and community members, so they can be more aware of the different groups and programs that exist. Parents will find useful information on support groups, advocacy organizations and enrichment programs, including enrichment opportunities & after-school programs. To celebrate the release of the 2023 NOLA-PS Special Education Resource Guide, the school district will also host a Community Resource Fair for families, community members and school teams. There will be over 20 organizations participating in the Community Resource Fair, including Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM), Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans (FHF), Special Olympics Louisiana and LOOP NOLA. This event will be held on Wednesday, April 5, from 9am-3pm at Mahalia Jackson Elementary School, 2405 Jackson Ave. There is only off-street parking and a photo ID is needed for entry.
Willow has once again teamed up with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to take on blood cancer by raising money for blood cancer patients in our community. Our Light the Night campaign ends today, March 31.
Kindergarten students are diving into Entomology research as part of their reading curriculum.. Today they learned about Arthropods and the difference between vertebrates (mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, & fish) and invertebrates (insects, arachnids and myriapods). After reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, they created caterpillar art and answered a think sheet with the question, "If I were a very hungry caterpillar, I would eat...". Students drew pictures of three arthropods and counted their legs. These included insects, arachnids and myriapods.
The talented Wiliams campus Drama Troupe presents "The Rainbow Fish." Drama Troupe’s Stage Manager Sam was at the Light Board for the performance.

The Willow School uses a mobile app to help students, parents/guardians and community members know from their smartphones what is happening on campus. Most families use their phones as a primary means of communication, so we have an app that is custom-built to our school for smartphones. On the app, you can read the latest announcements, locate staff contact information, review upcoming events and find important documents. The Willow School app is available to download free from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
Lost and Found is overflowing! Please label all clothing and check Lost and Found in the cafeteria when you get a chance. Thanks!
