Blackboard & Turnitin Changes
A recent change has been made to the way Turnitin is integrated into Blackboard, which affects how you mark student submissions.
Please refer to this screencast on accessing student submissions, and see also this guide on how to view and mark assignments by group.
Full information about these changes plus guides and an FAQ can be found on our eLearning Turnitin Hub.
Teaching Online Workshop
Piazza vs Padlet vs Blackboard Discussion Boards. Wednesday 23rd February, 1pm. Delivery mode: online
Promoting student discussion and cultivating learning communities is increasingly important as more students seek remote and flexible learning opportunities.
In this session, Dan Rigby & Alex Squires summarise their experience of using 3 online discussion tools: Piazza, Padlet and Blackboard Discussion Boards and share some new student feedback on their preferences regarding the 3 tools.

Gradescope and Hypothes.is – what are they?
Gradescope (www.gradescope.com) is a new tool (integrated within Bb) designed for the submission and marking of handwritten work (e.g. maths and stats) and computer code. It allows AI-assisted and standard marking.
Gradescope is available in Blackboard, under Tools > More Tools.
These examples and more can be seen in full on the Gradescope website’s homepage.
Hypothes.is
Hypothes.is is a tool for annotating on the web. You can highlight and comment on webpages and webhosted PDFs, and save your notes privately or share with others. It's a great tool for engaging with text in a collaborative way between students, TAs and academic colleagues, by reading online content in groups and sharing comments and ideas.
See how it works by visiting the Hypothes.is website.
Hypothes.is is available in Blackboard, under Build Content.
If you’re interested in – or are already using – either of these tools in your course, we’d love to hear from you. Please email Dan Rigby to let us know.
Adobe Spark is now Adobe Creative Cloud Express
Adobe Spark has now been re-branded as Creative Cloud Express by Adobe. Adobe Spark Page, Post and Video have been incorporated into CC Express.
