Faubion Orchestra Updates August 24, 2022

Please make sure you have completed all orchestra forms for your child here. These are required for all students. If your child has not received their orchestra shirt, please make sure you have paid at least part of their $40 orchestra fee for the year here. Students can also turn in cash or check payable to Faubion Orchestra for this in an envelope marked with your child's first and last name. If needed, envelopes are available in the orchestra room. T-shirts are handed out on Fridays to students who have paid during that week.

We will be having a back to school orchestra social at Pinstack Allen on September 7 from 5:30-7:30 pm. This is an optional event, but if students are interested, they need to turn in $20 cash (exact change) in an envelope marked with their first and last name and "Pinstack" to the orchestra safe no later than August 31. (Please pay at least half of your orchestra fees before turning in Pinstack money). This $20 includes unlimited laser tag, bowling, bumper cars, rock climbing, non-prize arcade games, ropes course, pizza, mozzerella sticks, and lemonade or powerade. This event is for Faubion Orchestra students only and we will be meeting at Pinstack (there will not be a bus). Parents are welcome to hang out as well--we would love to have you! If you want to play along and do the attractions as well, please include an additional $20.

We encourage all parents to join the Faubion Orchestra Boosters. This parent organization provides support to our orchestra program by helping fund student socials (bounce houses, video game trucks and etc), extra workshops/clinics, prizes and incentives for students, and private lesson scholarships. There are different membership levels and rewards starting at just $10 per family. Membership dues can be paid through zelle to fobcmisd@gmail.com or cash/check can be sent to school in an envelope with your child's first/last name and "Booster Membership".

Private lessons are starting this week. There are still a few openings in some classes. If you are interested, fill out this lesson specific form here. If you have already signed up for lessons on the main orchestra forms, you do not need to sign up again. Lessons are a great way for students to gain confidence and move often at a faster pace than the class.

All orchestra students should be practicing regularly and violin/viola students should be transporting their instrument back and forth from school to home for practicing. Right now beginners are practicing the routine of taking home their instrument as well as working on pg. 4-5 in their String Basics book. All upper level students have a practice list in their orchestra binder with a list of things that should be practiced as daily homework (we complete this in class daily for organizational purposes). Students are also always welcome to practice before and/or after school. Our room is open beginning at 7:50 am each morning and until 4:30 pm after school. It is a fun place to practice and get any additional help.
