Bio: MaryJane Joya is a 16-year-old high school student based in South Central, Los Angeles. Maryjane majorly focuses on studio portraiture, getting into environmental portraiture, but on their own time they love to take street photography. They have been part of 4 past exhibitions, one notably about their community. They are heavily inspired by their family and LFP mentors. Maryjane greatly appreciates all forms of photography niches, and since starting they have tried product, portraiture, food, and maternity photography. After graduation, they wish to major in photography and run their own photography studio.
Artist Statement: Hello! My name is Maryjane also known as Mj, I am a 16 -year-old high school student with a specialty in studio and environmental portraiture. This semester I have been focusing on building up on my clientele and commercial work. I recently booked my first beach maternity shoot and captured an intimate moment shot on location in Malibu. I have been experimenting recently with outdoor shoots with family and friends. I have enjoyed trying different forms of photography but ultimately I have loved working with portraiture. My portraits reflect a component of bright happy colors, props, and a sense of joy allowing the models to smile and break character.
