Principal's Message
Kia Ora Koutou
I really enjoy catching up with our community and those side-line conversations we have can provide useful insights for us as a school. Wherever possible I will pass these insights back to the staff member who has oversight in the school - be it curriculum, sport, boarding - whatever the delegation the appropriate souls will be included so we continue to do our best for our akonga.
Fabric for Moana
Our Production director Tim Clarke has asked that I include this “Moana takes place on islands in the Pacific. In order to create the effect of the ocean, our production team would like to use lots of blue cloth that the ensemble can keep moving – gently or more violently - according to the mood of the scene. Before we go out and buy fabric, we are wondering whether anyone may have a quantity of blue fabric that they would be willing to donate. Fading would not matter, nor would a gentle pattern. Old sheets would work, as would shiny fabric or ends of lines of lines; even a part bolt of fabric if anyone had one, just so long as it is not too stiff and heavy. We are looking for quite a large quantity, but smaller amounts would also be great.”
If you have something that might be useful, could you please email Tim - tim.clarke@trinityschools.nz
Short and sweet this week folks. Have a safe weekend.

Boarding Note
This term in boarding we have introduced afterschool clubs. On Monday the girls who attended the Arts and Crafts Club made this gorgeous Balloon Birthday display for the junior dorms. Not only does it get the girls downstairs interacting with others, but it also provides us with a lovely display for the noticeboards. Thanks to all who helped with this, and a special thanks to Marci for helping with the display.
Lunchtimes are always an exciting part of the day, and today nachos were on the menu! In addition to the main meal, there is always a good selection of fruit available, a salad bar which contains 3-4 salads, along with breads and spreads. Below Olivia, Heidi and Ella are all smiles as they enter the dining room.
Lastly, a reminder to all boarders that electric blankets are not allowed in the boarding houses.
Enjoy the weekend!

A group of students worked hard at the Millennium Reserve supporting this community taonga by weeding and clearing a section of the native bush.
House Music
Our original House Music date of Friday 8th September clashed with the University of Canterbury Open Day, which involves many of our Year 13 girls. For them to miss House Music in their last year would've been a real shame.
So, luckily we have secured another date at Wairarapa College for this event - Thursday 21st September. This is in the last week of Term Three. It will also involve Monday 18th, Tuesday 19th and Wednesday the 20th of September for after school rehearsals. We expect all the girls at these rehearsals. Please avoid any appointments for these times. Girls who have jobs have plenty of time to let their employers know they have a school commitment on this week.
For Year 11 students, Derived Grade Exams will be in Week One of Term Four.
Budding Illustrators
Last week four lucky art students enjoyed an inspirational morning taking part in workshops with experienced and well known New Zealand Illustrators Gavin Bishop, Martin Baynton, Lily Uivel and Rose Northey. The workshops were part of the Featherston Booktown Festival and made possible thanks to REAP. Topics covered included how to analyse style, storyboard, and develop characters. We look forward to seeing what these students create in the future!
Bully Free week
Our Year 11 Leaders organised a range of activities to raise awareness of Bully Free Week, which was followed by a pink themed Whanau Group morning tea to celebrate.
