Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China and it is one of the world’s most populous cities. Beijing is located in the northern part of China. It is one of the most symbolized cities of China. It is a city that is modern and technologically advanced. There are several important or significant places in China that are in Beijing.
The great wall of China (parts of the great wall) contains a long history of China up to thousands of years. This is definitely where you should visit. The whole entire great wall is more than 13000 miles in length mainly located in northern China. The great wall originated from the Qing Shi Huang (Qing dynasty) in ancient China. The great wall was built by several emperors of China in numerous dynasties. Yet, the main construction and idea of building the great wall are from the first emperor of China (Qing Shi Huang) in the Qing dynasty. The purpose of building the great wall is to self-defense from border countries. At that time there is rarely a big city wall nor any that are tall enough. The Temple of Heaven is a temple located in Beijing and it’s an important historical place. In the Ming and Qing dynasty, the emperor of China at that time would come and visit for annual ceremonial events. It has a history of as long as 2225 years since the Qing dynasty ended.
The national stadium of China is also called the “birds nest”. This is a significant building in China as well, it has well-done agriculture and relates to modern-day China. The Winter Olympics of 2022 also happened in this stadium. It is the largest stadium in China and is known as the best. This stadium contains a sports complex for both winter sports and summer sports. It is also open to tourists when there is no event it would be interesting to visit!(1. what is Beijing National Stadium used for now?)
Tiananmen is one of the most significant places in China. It relates to the history of China and the politics and governance of China. Definitely somewhere you should visit to take a look at Chinese history and culture.
Yunnan
Yunnan is a province located in the southwest of China. Yunnan has a really unique landscape with large differences in attitudes up to 9000ft. Including snow, mountain, lake, pond, and other varieties. Yunnan is rich in natural resources and has the largest diversity of plant life in China. Yunnan's reserves of aluminum, lead, zinc, and tin are the largest in China, and there are also major reserves of copper and nickel. This is also one of the places in China that have the most diverse ethnicity groups, up to 34 different ethnicity which is out of the 56 ethnicities of the whole Chinese population. You could see the diversity of culture and landscapes. Yunnan is also known to be somewhere that has the best weather in China called the “spring city” because the temperature of Yunnan is in a small range from winter to summer.
One of the must-visit cities in Kunming. It has The Stone Forest; it is a special and notable large amount of natural limestone formation. Kunming is also the capital of Yunnan so you would find many other places that you should visit. Dali is also somewhere you should visit. There is snow mountain can hang and the three propaganda which is somewhere that have a really long historical information. It is the location of the ancient kingdom “Dali Kingdom”. Li Jiang is also one of the must-visit places in Yunnan. There is the Yulong snow mountain which includes rivers, diversity in nature, and other significant natural environments. Other than that, Li Jiang also has Li Jiang city which is an ancient town. Xishuangbanna is also somewhere that you should visit. It is at the border of China near Thailand. It has the dai Zu culture which is close to Thai culture. There is a large number of tropical forests. TengChong has volcanoes and a naturally formed hot spring. Lastly, Honghe has one of the largest terraces in China. Here is a short video that includes varieties of places in Yunnan and there would be places mentioned above.
This is also my mom's home city I almost go there every holiday it is like my second home. The environment and the whether there is dreamly. Not hot nor cold just like spring. There are many cultures you would see including many different ethnic groups. You could go try out some traditional dress, food, and buildings. This is also a famous tourist place in China for the Chinese local citizens. It is different from big modern city it is somewhere that you could in touch with mother nature.
Shanghai
Shanghai is also a popular modern city in China. It is one of the four direct-administered municipalities along with the other three places Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou. Beijing is located in the southern estuary part of Mainland China with the Yangtze River, Huangpu river flowing through the city. There are a lot of different places to visit in Shanghai including Yu yuan, Lujiazui, Nanjing road, Custom house, China art museum, and last but not least Old City of Shanghai. One of the must-visit that I personally suggest in the “上海滩” is a street that connects one of the most famous rivers in China named the Huangpu river. It has a really long history through this road and it also contains a lot of historical events. Dongfang Mingzhu tower is a significant building in Shanghai and in China with its Chinese name “东方明珠”. I went to the street that is shown in the picture above is real life around three years ago for a night walk. There was a really famous movie called "Shanghai bay" and there are people filming at the place and you can pay and act the character yourself and get the video.
Xian
Xian (西安）is a sub-provincial city located in the Guanzhong plain of northwest China. It is the oldest city in China and is also known as the ancient capital of China. It contains the history of many important dynasties in China including the Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui, Northern Zhou, and Tang. It would be one of the best places to visit if you are interested in China’s ancient history.
The Xian Terracotta Warriors Museum (兵马俑）. The Terracotta Army is one of the connections of the terracotta sculptures depicting the army of the Qin Shi Huang dynasty, the first emperor of China. This is a form of Chinese funeral art, the sculpture of the warriors buried with the emperor in 210-209 BCE to protect the emperor in his afterlife.
Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔）is another must-visit in Xian. This is a moment trial Buddhist pagoda building located in Xian. It was built during the Tang dynasty of China which is one of the most significant dynasties in the history of China. Yet, this was only the beginning of the building. Time passed to the Wuzetain in the late Tang the building was rebuilt and it has again been renovated in the Ming dynasty. This building was added to the World heritage list with many other sites of the silk road.
Along with that, there are also many significant things related to the ancient history of China’s buildings such as the: Drum Tower of Xi'an, Belltower of Xi'an, the City wall of Xian, and the Tang paradise. Below are pictures of the places that have been talked about.
Sichuan
Si Chuan (四川) is a landlocked province located in the southwest part of China. Sichuan Basin is in the most eastern part of the Tibetan Plateau. Sichuan has the Jinsha River to its west, Daba mountain to the north, and lastly the Yungui Plateau to the south. Sichuan province’s capital city is Chengdu (成都）. Sichuan is known for its spicy delicious food, Panda, and its unique natural environments.
Jiuzhaigou (九寨沟）is a natural served national park located in northern Sichuan. There is a long valley running on both sides from the north to the south. Jiuzhaigou was also listed in UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1992 and also in the list of the World Biosphere Reserve.
Huanglong Scenic and Historic interest (黄龙） area is located in the northwest part of Sichuan and it is also on the list of the World Heritage sites. Huanglong area is known for its travertine pools formed by the calcite deposit with the diverse forest ecosystem, snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, and hot springs. It is like a collection of many diverse natural environments all together in one place forming a unique landscape.
Other places that would be a must-visit in Sichuan are the Giant panda, Mount Emei, Leshan Giant buddha. Below are some of the places being mentioned in Sichuan that you may be interested in.
