Hi! My name is Lavenia and I’m from Texas in the United States. I’m a FP student in the 2021-2022 year preparing for the bachelors programme Arts & Culture at Maastricht University.
My favorite part about living in Maastricht is seeing the many historical buildings in the center. When taking a walk with classmates in the city after a tutorial, it is nice to look around and see the tall church towers, stained-glass windows and diverse styles of buildings.
In the Foundation Programme, we occasionally have lectures and exams in the University College Maastricht (UCM) lecture hall, a former chapel, with impressive stained-glass windows in the back. There are similarly well-preserved buildings with different purposes around Maastricht like the converted church Bookstore Dominicanen (which is famously know as one of the most beautiful book stores in the world), the Basilica St. Servatius at the Vrijthof, or the Sint Lambertuskerk building which serves as a research laboratory.
the surroundings of Maastricht have been a new and unique atmosphere for me to study in
Back home in my area of Texas it is rare to see such historical buildings, so the surroundings of Maastricht have been a new and unique atmosphere for me to study in.
For anyone visiting Maastricht for the first time, I definitely recommend visiting the churches around the center!
