WE GROW CABARRUS NC Cooperative Extension - Cabarrus County

Our Mission: North Carolina Cooperative Extension partners with communities to deliver education and technology that enrich the lives, land and economy of North Carolinians.

Cabarrus County 4-H

Officer Inductions 2023

On January 5th we held our first County Council meeting where we inducted our 2023 County Council Officers and Club Officers. We are excited to see what 2023 has in store for our 4-H Clubs. We currently have 8 active clubs for 2023. Clubs have a variety of leadership roles for youth to participate in. Being an officer is one of the greatest honors as a 4-H member.

We will celebrate our 2022 accomplishments at our annual achievement night on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30pm. You can register for this on 4-H Online. Please contact 4-H Agent, Molly Kleman with any questions.

Training for Kids Plus Teachers

Thirty-eight afterschool Kids Plus teachers had a motivational training during January. The training was based on the book “The Coffee Bean” and learned the difference between a carrot, an egg, and a coffee bean. The training ended with each teacher creating their own rubs and scrubs to take with them.

Cabarrus County Horticulture

Cooperative Extension program efforts in the county.

The deadline to order is February 23. Plant pick up will be March 2 and 3 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Cabarrus County Center.

Souper Meals

The weather outside may be cold, so this is a perfect time to enjoy "Souper-Meals"! We enjoyed hosting two "Souper-Meals" classes in January. This hands on workshop was a great opportunity to prepare then enjoy quick and easy soups and sample some soups prepared in advance of the class. We looked at tips that can make your soup recipes healthier and tips for freezing soups for later use and folks left with ideas to make your meals "Souper-meals"!

If you have any questions about nutrition, health, food safety, or food preservation please contact Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Sciences Pamela Outenor call 704-920-3310.

Be sure you sign up for our email updates to not miss any of our future events.
