Paul McIver A life spent in the classroom, for the love of science and learning

Paul D. McIver was a faculty member in the Science/Biology department at EHS from 1962-1989. He will be 91 years young this July and is asking for any correspondence from his former students. He speaks of "you" and his teaching years at Englewood High School with the most fond memory. Please send notes to: Mr. Paul McIver P.O. Box 364 Allenspark, CO. 80510

Information from Katie Bradley, cousin of Paul McIver

Ms. Bradley had a recent conversation with Mr. Mciver. She said the first thing he said was, "I miss teaching at Englewood High School."

"I had a room with a view," Mr. McIver said recently. Room 125 had large windows on the North side looking out on the courtyard. He said he enjoyed that.

Through Time: Mr. McIver began his career in the 60s and took a yearbook photo each year he taught at the school. His warm smile and calm demeanor drew students to his science classes.
In 1966-1967, just a few years into his time at EHS, he was the head of the science club. He had a bachelor's degree in Science. This was an example of how passionate he was about his job.
In the classroom, Mr. McIver was a collected and fun teacher, according to some of his students, who loved doing experiments.

In many photos from 1962 through to 1973, his distinctive dark jacket, white shirt, and tie made all images timeless (nearly identical) so as to make it look as if he didn't age for years.

Adding to his education, in the 1970s, he studied zoology and built his resume.
A huge smile on his face and third from the left, Mr. McIver stands with other science teachers and a guy that seems to have an adventurous spirit and is all bones.

In a recent conversation, Mr. McIver remembered the teacher in the room next door. His name was Mr. Phil Ronco. They would play practical jokes on each other regularly.

Mr. McIver co-authored (with 7 others) a nationally acclaimed textbook in 1987 titled "Biological Science and Ecological Approach." He used it in his own classroom at EHS.

After his retirement from EHS, he went on to work for the E.P.A. for another 21 years.

He is a U.S. Veteran (Marine Corps).
