Edgewood Early Childhood Center Staff Spotlight
Meet Ms. Kerri Sowers -- Kerri Sowers was hired this school year to be an intervention specialist for Edgewood Early Childhood Center. Kerri has been teaching for 5 years, with the past 4 years at Ludlow Independent School District. She loves working with our incredible students. "The joy they have when they accomplish a goal and their excitement at school is what I love to see". Ms. Sowers loves working at Edgewood. "The staff at EECC welcomed me in like part of the family. We have such great students who are excited to be there and always so excited to see us".
PBIS Signage at Edgewood Primary School
This past month Edgewood Primary School revisited the school-wide PBIS Expectations, Responsible, Respectful and Safe. They had lessons and practiced what the three B's look like throughout the school. Each morning students began their day with the chant, "I am Responsible! I am Respectful. I am safe! Together... we are Edgewood Primary School!" New signs are posted around the building as a reminder of what it means to show EPS Cougar Pride! Thank you to the Elementary PTO for purchasing the signs for us!
Edgewood Intermediate School 4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee
On Monday, February 7th, Edgewood Intermediate School held its annual Spelling Bee. They had 22 students that competed in Grades 4 & 5. The winners were: Hunter Ferrell 1st Place/Ms. Gambrell, Jackson Allen 2nd Place/Mrs. Razete, and Alayna Mckeown 3rd Place/Mrs. Maloney.
Hunter won with the word "wattles".
Edgewood Middle School Students Organize Book Drive
Edgewood Middle School students Molly Lipps and Mattie Eggebrecht organized a book drive to help rebuild the classroom library of books that were damaged by a pipe leak in their teacher's classroom. In their book drive video, Molly and Mattie stated "This is a great way for EMS students to come together and do something nice for one of our teachers!" These students have shown tremendous leadership and make EMS proud!
Edgewood High School Student Spotlight
Ashlyn Hill, EHS Junior, earned the distinction of being a Round 4 Finalist in the New York Times Personal Narrative Contest, ranking her in the top 200 out of over 11,000 student-writers in this national contest. Ashlyn's drive to clearly communicate her story merits celebration! Congratulations, Ashlyn!
SEL Spotlight
Mr. White meets twice per week with his K-5 Social Emotional Academy of Leaders (SEALS) to help students learn the value of accountability, learn to set and achieve goals, gain community, and build motivation/skills/coping mechanisms through mentorship. In the photos above, Mr. White's SEALS were excited to receive their dog tags.
