From Empty to Energetic: The Revival of Downtown Ventura By: Olivia Mowad

Immigrant Son Cafe

Serving breakfast and lunch, this cafe embraces the culture of an Italian-American family. It is one of my favorite brunch spots in Ventura; I’m always greeted with a smile.

It’s gorgeous refurbished interior makes for a relaxing ambiance and a great place to spend time with friends and family. With such a warm and welcoming environment, Immigrant Son Cafe is a staple eatery of downtown Ventura.

Palm and Boy

Palm and Boy cafe provides a quaint relaxing stop to make before a hectic day. It is a locally-owned business with a mostly vegan menu. Here you can enjoy rich, aromatic coffees along with some of the most addicting, freshly made acai bowls.

Located in an alleyway branching off of the main street, their small bohemian-style courtyard filled with plants is a wonderful view to observe in the pale morning light.

Latitudes Gallery

Along with the gorgeous art interior of Latitudes, their outdoor exhibit is truly a masterpiece that brightens up the streets of downtown Ventura. This interactive exhibit is perfect for photos with friends and family, and it provides a stunning backdrop for photographers to experiment with.

Several metalwork planters are placed in front of the E.P. Foster Library and throughout the streets, spelling out inspiring words.

In front of our stage downtown, we can see the word, “beautiful”, harboring gorgeous flowering succulents inside the planters.
