ONLINE, PROFESSIONAL & ENGAGED LEARNING Annual Impact Report 2021-2022

Established in the Fall of 2019, OPEL promotes learning and collaboration among its sub-units: Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service (COLRS), Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE), Office of Engaged Learning (OEL), Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE), and UIS Peoria.

Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service (COLRS)

COLRS is the UIS hub for the study and application of online pedagogy, technology, and best practices related to online learning. COLRS is also home to the UIS Digital Accessibility Team which promotes online digital accessibility through professional development and document remediation.

Office of Engaged Learning (OEL)

OEL provides innovative experiential learning opportunities for a diverse student population. OEL is home to the Internship and Prior Learning Office and the Study Away Program.

Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE)

CAPE develops and delivers demand-driven innovative programs to address the educational needs of professionals across businesses and industries. CAPE is also home to the Illinois Online Network (ION). ION provides external professional development programs and support to advance the practice and innovation of online learning for faculty, staff, and online leaders.

Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE)

CFE supports world-class teaching by providing programming for current UIS faculty, including online, part-time, and full-time faculty.
