K2: The digestive system - K2 has been learning about the digestive system and how their lunch is digested. They used zip bags and soda to simulate how food is broken down in the stomach with help from stomach acid. Next week, the students will be using tights to mimic how food passes through the intestines to create poo! Yuck!
Y2: Plant survivors - Year 2 have been exploring plants in Science over the last few weeks. We have designed an experiment to see what happens to plants if they don’t get everything they need to survive and making predictions about what may happen.
Y4: Environmental impacts - Year 4 has been learning about how human activity can change our environment in both positive and negative ways. They illustrated this by building dioramas. They showed an area of natural beauty in Diorama 1 which was set in 1993. Diorama 2 showed the same location thirty years later in 2023, These dioramas were shared in our End Of Unit Showcase.
Y7/8: Supporting CNY - Our Y7/8 students took a leadership role in our Chinese New Year event to ensure that the younger students understood the importance of this celebration. Liew was one of our MC’s sharing the history of CNY with learners. Some of our other Y7/8 students explained how to take part in the Chinese Fortune activity.
Y9/10: Rhythm and beat In performing arts, - Y9/10 learners have been experimenting with rhythm and beat. This is part of our MYP arts curriculum where students are learning not only to respond to different performing arts but to also take part in creating performing art pieces themselves.
Thai/TAL: Learning how to Wai
Thai and TAL students combined classes to learn Thai culture. The learners learned how to perform a Wai to show greeting and respect for each other. It is a unique, graceful action that UDIS learners understand.

UDIS Fun Fair - 4 February UDIS is holding a fun fair on Saturday 4 February from 10am to 1pm to invite parents and their friends to UDIS to experience a fun morning. There will be activities for children, parents and teachers to enjoy with lots of free food.
