ELA Independent Reading
Students in 36 ELA classes came to the library to check out independent reading books! We saw them all in the first 2 weeks of January! This accounts for 900 ELA students checking out books from our school, books from other BV schools through Interlibrary Loan, and books from Johnson County Library through the help and recommendations of librarians and teachers. Some classes heard booktalks from librarians to help with the selection process.
AVID Marble Run
AVID10 students used Marble Run games to create structures that met specific sets or requirements. Teams competed to earn points by creating runs that earned the highest number of points from a category list. High point earners at the tallest structure, or the structure that took the longest to run. Students had a great time creating these races!

AP Lit-Research Process
Students in Mrs. Weir's and Mrs. Worthington's AP Lit classes began the process of writing a formal research paper similar to what will be expected of them as college freshmen. Students practiced topic selection, searching for information, thesis writing in the first weeks of the process. By the end of the process, every student will write a properly formatted argumentative research paper about a topic of their choosing. Students were encouraged to broaden their views, write about something that matters to them, and use the evidence to formulate their own opinion!
HELA 10-Annotated Bibliographies
Sociology-Virus Game
Students in Ms. Salimbene's Sociology classes played the Virus Game in the library. Students were running back and forth from their group to the model and practicing all kinds of communication techniques. The library hosts this game every semester and the students have a blast each time!
