Alphabetical by Actors' Last Name
King Ferdinand of Navarre played by Nate Burger
The Young King of Navarre and friend of Berowne, Dumaine, and Longaville. Wants to get his pals in on the edict to get serious about studying for 3 solid years in an attempt to become better men and be famous for their intellect. Almost immediately breaks his oath and falls for the Princess.
Costard, A Groundskeeper played by Jeb Burris
In our production, a clownish custodian at the university. He is caught with Jaquenetta in the park by Armado after the edict has been declared that no man shall speak to a woman. His punishment does not last very long, and he is employed to deliver letters that he mixes up and delivers to the wrong people.
Jaquenetta, A Gardner played by Gabriela Castillo
The only woman allowed to stay at the court. Unlike the other women in the play, she is not royalty or a member of the court. In our production, she works for the university and tends the gardens. Her privilege lies in her ability to enjoy her freedom when it comes to love and who she spends her time with.
Holofernes, A Scholar played by James Ridge
A teacher, and in our production, a professor at the university. Perhaps the greatest lover of language and words in the play. His greatest strength also proves his greatest weakness when his manner of speaking is afflicted with the need to offer several separate words to explain one concept.
Berowne, Lord & friend of the King played by Marcus Truschinski
Friend and confidante of the King. The most hesitant to agree to signing the oath. A ring leader of the group and lover of language. Has a reputation for using his words to make jokes and talk himself out of situations. Almost immediately breaks his oath by falling for Rosaline.
Marcade, Messenger of France played by Nancy Rodriguez
A messenger.
