Our Story
In 1970, a group of adults would meet to pray for something for the teenagers in Jackson. God answered that prayer in 1971 through Sam and Suzanne Winston and Marty and Lynne Marshall as they started Young Life at JCM and North Side. Brad and Marsha Baker moved from Memphis to Jackson as the first full-time staff in 1971, and Young Life Jackson has been introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith ever since. For the last 50 years, we have gone to where kids are, which we call Contact Work. Earning the right to be heard, we have been throwing them a party with a purpose, telling them about Jesus, at Club. Then, we follow up with them in small group Bible studies called Campaigners. We also take them on incredible adventures to resorts for students that we call Camp. While the clothes, music, and slang has changed over the last 50 years, our commitment to Christ and kids has remained the same and will continue to for as long as the Lord has us here. Thanks for being a part of the story.
