Digital Photography 2 Portfolio Adam Almonte | Spring 2023

My name is Adam Almonte. I've always loved different kids of art- I sketch and do graphic design, but this year I thought I would try something different with photography, taking two courses in one year. I found out that I'm not the best at it- but I've really enjoyed it, and at the end that's mostly what matters.

Something I discovered in this class is how I can combine my photography with my knowledge of graphic design to make some really cool images. My final project in this class makes use of that, so be sure to scroll down and check it out!

Quarter 1

I like this image because of the focus and intimacy on the bear! It's one of my favorite shots from our Toy shoot.
I chose this photo because of how the paint and lighting blend together, creating this beautiful mess.
I chose this photo because of the selective focus, and because I'm proud of it as well. It took a long time to get this focus.
These shots are from the Freezing Time shoot. I chose them because of the action they show, freezing Riley mid-lemon toss.
I chose this photo because of the super close angle and focus I managed to get.
I like this photo because of the atmosphere. It's hazy but clear at the same time; the flower is lost in the ocean, slowly sinking.
These photos are from the 'Something from Nothing' shoot. I chose them because of the texture and contrast.
I chose this photo because I really like the scene, and I'm also proud of the edits I made.
I chose this photo because of the tense contrast it creates. The colors clash, which I think looks really cool.
This is one of my favorite shots so far. I chose it because of how I captured the thoughtful expression on his face and the reflection in his glasses.

Quarter 2

This photo is from a shoot where I just decided to go for a walk and take pictures of nature. This bird flew away seconds after I took the photo.
The focus in this photo isn't the best, but I love the little bumblebee desperately clinging to the flower, trying to get to the pollen.
This image was the result of our grid project. I overlayed a 'Private Property, No Trespassing' sign over beautiful pictures of nature. It's meant to represent no one has access to so much beautiful nature because it's owned by some person.
A small project I made during my free time. My first experiment with a low poly edit.
A paw print found on a trail. I used light and contrast editing to give this picture a very dramatic feel.
The charcoal remnants of a fire on a beach. Surprisingly, the newspaper is still legible.
Limerick Generating Station, Pottstown PA. I would've gotten closer but there were way too many 'No Trespassing' signs.
A consolation shot. I visited the Delaware Water Gap (2+ hours away) to take some shots of the sunset over the river, but I ran out of time looking for a lookout point. The sun was quickly setting and I desperately set up my camera by the side of the road, not wanting to come home empty-handed.
My first attempt at a sunset shot. This type of edit is becoming one of my favorite styles.
A Philly skyline sunrise taken from Belmont Plateau. Waking up at 4 AM to get this shot was one of the more difficult things I have ever done- I am NOT a morning person.
