2023 Spring Torch by: Abbey Garvin

Updates

Registration for Nationals is now OPEN! If you aren’t sure if nationals interests you check out our Back to School Torch to hear about the boards 2022 experience. You can find all the information and costs at https://www.njcl.org/NJCL-Convention/2023-NJCL-Convention. Reach out to our state chair if you’re interested in attending, we would love to have you!

Spring Ludi Sports & Olympika

This year, we had Ludi events such as Cerberus races, egg throwing, and egg relay races. Our olympika events included 100 yard races for all levels, as well as a 200 yard relay race.

Spring Costume Contests

The costumes that showed up this year made the judges have a very difficult job. Thomas Hart brought an epic variety within their own group to the contest. We loved all the details and efforts put into all the costumes this year!

Takeaways from Spring Forum

First of all, this Spring Forum was one of the best yet. On Saturday March 11th, 2023 SCJCL held elections for offices on the board for 2023-2024. There was also voting for amendments to the constitution. If you missed the elections and want updated info feel free to reach out to our parliamentarian.

A note from the 2022-2023 Editor

Salve everyone, some of you may know my name is Abbey and I have been SC’s editor for the last year. I’m currently a senior so I just attended my last spring forum. These next couple of months are ending a lot of chapters for me, including my time as Editor. For me SCJCL gave me friends and leadership opportunities during my time in high school. The last year has been something truly unforgettable and filled with so much joy because of my JCL family. So, cheers to my last newsletter and passing the torch into great hands! I could not be more grateful for this organization, and if you are thinking about joining JCL this is your sign to DO IT!
