June 20-25
Who?
Move is for anyone currently in 8th-12th grade.
Location
Nestled next to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Knoxville is the crown jewel of east Tennessee. Johnson University sits just outside this great city, which provides endless opportunities for fun. At Johnson University, you are just minutes from the culture, shopping, dining, art, theatre and professional sports offered by the dynamic city of Knoxville. Knoxville is a can’t-miss stop on your summer calendar and a great place for MOVE. Johnson has air conditioned dorms and a pool!
Cost
The cost for a student to attend is $350 if you register before Easter Sunday, April 17th AND pay the $50 deposit. After that, the price goes up to $430. The last day to register is May 20th. That covers the event, food, lodging, and travel expenses. You can pay online by clicking here and selecting CIY in the dropdown menu. Or you can pay by check made out to Beechwold Christian Church with "CIY" on the memo line.
*Move is such a powerful and impactful week that we would hate for money to be something that stands in the way of a student getting this experience. If cost will be an issue, please reach out to Dave (dave@beechwoldchristian.org) and we will figure out a way to make it happen.*
What does a day at Move look like?
There will be a morning session followed by small group and/or personal devotional time. After lunch, students can attend one of several different 'electives' where they can hear from different speakers or participate in different activities focused on specific topics. In the afternoon, there's a few hours of free time! This is when students can just hangout, play games, take a nap, or take part in some of the cool things the campus has to offer (see above). After dinner there's an evening session followed by a time for our group to reflect on the session together and connect with each other.
Fundraising Opportunities
We will be selling candy bars again and possibly doing a pasta lunch and doughnut sale in addition to that. More info to come.
FAQs
What if I can't come up with the money?
We'd hate for money to be what's standing in the way between a student and this awesome experience. If money may be an issue, please reach out. There are some hardship scholarships available and there will be fundraising opportunities available for all students.
When is the deadline to register?
May 20th. (April 17th for the early bird rate).
What about our middle schoolers?
One of the things that CIY does really well is they tailor their events to specific age groups. While there may be some similarities, High School & Middle School students are in completely different stages of their development. They have different needs, experiences, and struggles. So Move is focused specifically on the older teens while they have other programs directed at the younger ones. Keep an eye out for a middle school event in the next year.
More information to come.
