Here2Talk
Here2Talk connects students with mental health support when they need it. Through this program, all students currently registered in a B.C. post-secondary institution have access to free, confidential counselling and community referral services, conveniently available 24/7 via app, phone and web.
Regional Counsellors
CMTN has partnered with counsellors in our region to provide free of cost in-person counselling services to our students. The counsellors can also provide phone and video sessions. Fill out this referral form for access to one of the counsellors below and let them know you are from CMTN. We will take care of the rest!
Local Community Resources to End Violence
Prince Rupert
North Coast Community Services Society offers a variety of programs and support for families, youth, and survivors of violent crimes. Community based victim services offers emotional support and assistance to prepare safety plans and court documents. Call 250.627.7166 or visit their website.
North Coast Transition Society is a feminist non-profit organization that provides free individual and group counselling for women who have experienced sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, or domestic violence. Ksan House Society has been providing programs to Terrace and the surrounding area since 1979. The society operates on the principle that everyone is equal, and believing that the cycle of violence can be broken. Northern Society for Domestic Peace is a non-profit service agency that offers a continuum of support services to individuals and families in the Northwest BC, with offices in Smithers, Houston, and Hazelton. Foundry BC
Foundry BC is now offering virtual drop-in counselling for people ages 12 to 24 and their families. To access this service, call 1.833.FØUNDRY (yes, that’s FØUNDRY with a zero) or 1.833.308.6379) to book an appointment. Sessions available through chat, voice-only calls or video calls. First Nations Health Authority
Mental Health Benefits that includes mental health counselling from a qualified mental health provider. Mental Health providers include psychologists, clinical counsellors, and social workers. Please go to their website to find details on what their plan covers, how to access the coverage, what the plan does not cover, appeals and FNHA Mental Health programs.

Ending Violence Association of BC
The Ending Violence Association of BC is a resource for community-based services that support survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, child abuse, and criminal harassment. To find a service anywhere in BC, use their 'Find a Service' tool on their website.
Residential Treatment and Supportive Recovery Services
Treatment and supportive recovery services are live-in or bed-based substance use services that offer a range of programs and supports to help people who are looking to reduce or abstain from substances, and/or reduce harms associated with substance use. If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed, confused, having thoughts of suicide, or just needing someone to listen, there are a variety of resources and crisis lines dedicated to providing emotional support, suicide intervention and referral information to the residents of Northern British Columbia. The Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society Crisis Line is available 24-hours a day for anyone experiencing pain or distress as a result of their residential school experience. KUU-US Crisis line is supported in Northern BC, based out of Prince George and is available 24/7. This line has been built for Indigenous people by Indigenous people. Call 1.800.588.8717 or visit their website for chat support.
Youth Online Chat, supported by the Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC, is available! You can also text 250.564.8336 or call 1.888.564.8336. A confidential, anonymous peer support service operated by trained youth answering calls from other youth. Available 24/7.

Crisis Centre Chat, supported by the Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC, is a web-based hotline for adults (25+) in distress where they can access free, confidential, non-judgmental support (noon – 1am, 7 days a week) from dedicated volunteers, supported by a small team of professional staff.

Mindshift: MindShift® CBT uses scientifically proven strategies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you learn to relax and be mindful, develop more effective ways of thinking, and use active steps to take charge of your anxiety. CBT-i Coach: CBT-i Coach is for people who are engaged in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia with a health provider, or who have experienced symptoms of insomnia and would like to improve their sleep habits. Available to download from the App Store or Google Play.
Healthy Minds App: HealthyMinds is a problem-solving tool to help deal with emotions and cope with the stresses you encounter both on and off campus. The goal: Keeping your mind healthy. Available to download from the App Store or Google Play.

If you have any questions or know of someone who needs support on campus, we do have colleagues trained in SafeTALK and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
