Hi! My name is Samantha Dykes. Some people call me Sam too so you can call me that. This is my portfolio! These photos are some of my best work and I am super proud to share them.
This photo is my favorite shot I got from this shoot. I love the mix of colors and how they look together. I also love how the flowers are so in focus while so much is going on.
This shoot was definitely my favorite shoot we did. I think some of my best work came from this. I normally do not like editing but this was fun to edit, the black and white makes the photos more ghostly and I love it.
This photo of Anais is one of my top 5 favorite photos I took this year. I love how detailed and crisp it is even though it is supposed to be foggy like a ghost. The fact you can see the rings too is so cool.
These photos come from my first independent project. My goal was to compare digital photos to film photos and to see how crisp you can get. I believe I captured that.
This photo has to be my favorite photo from my first independent project. I love how green it is and how the water droplets are so crisp. I love how the focus slowly but naturally glides out and how there are natural leading lines. Everything about this photo is amazing.
Tattoos are one of my favorite things next to plants, I have a few myself. These photos came from my second independent project where I took photos of people and their tattoos and got the story behind it. This was a great project because I got to know people better and see amazing tattoos.
This photo of Jordan was apart of my photo series for tattoos. He was in the studio with a fellow classmate and when she was using him I took him to the side and got these photos of him that I think are amazing. I love that you can see the contour of his muscles with the tattoo I think it looks beautiful.
This is my co-worker Allyson. She is one of the strongest people I know. She got breast cancer at 26 years old and fought through it all. She got the super woman tattoo to remind her to fight and I think it is beautiful.
This is one of my old photos from the beginning of class for the paper photo shoot. I love this photo just because of the colors I think they are so pretty together.
Anais coming through again! (get the pun? coming through? you can see them through the paper?) ok what ever it is funny. Well Anais has this really cool bunny hat and i wanted to get a creepy photo, I don't know why but I did.
This is from the toy story photo shoot. This was a really fun shoot to do and had a lot of fun being creative.
This is another shot from the toy story shoot, I was having trouble with what to do next so I threw everything on the paper and shot it.
This grid is from my tattoo project. I wanted to capture people and their tattoos and tell their story. I learned so much from it.
Allyson is my co-worker, and this is the final product of my grid of hers and I love how I could get her in a space where she is so used to. I loved how i could get so much of her personality in the photo.
Kahseam is a friend of mine. He has this beautiful tattoo of his mother's name and I wanted to capture it. I love the pose he did in the middle, it gives him a god like vibe.
When I took this picture I did not think it was much, but when I got it on the computer I got so excited. It looks just like a Macbook back ground and I think it is so cool.
This was my first grid project after that I really fell in love with making grids for my photos. This one means a lot to me because I got to go out with my dad and experience something new with him and have fun.
I took all of these photos in one day. I walked around the block with my boyfriend and took all of these photos of the plants. It is apart of my digital vs film project and the digitals all turned out so good. I am really proud of them.
This photo of Lily is something I am very proud of. I love how detailed it is and I love all the shadows in the photo conturing her tattoo.
Ky is a fellow classmate of mine that has very beautiful tattoos. I wanted to get a shot or two of his 'Gods Plan' tattoo because of the meaning behind it.
