Another busy week in Year 5!
This week, we were looking at installation art and why artists decide to work in this way.
Installation art is about working in 3D and is created for a particular location. It is designed to change the location in some way. There are many different forms of 3D installation and we investigated a variety of them.
As part of our Use and Apply sessions, we used our knowledge of presenting data in line graphs. We linked it to our Geography and presented the continents Year 5 are from. This follows on from the work we did last week, locating the countries we are all from.
We also used and applied our knowledge, skills and understanding in our PSHE lessons when we learned about budgets.
We had a go at creating our own budgets.
As part of our oracy work, we imagined that we were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy from ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’.
We were tasked with discussing what we would take if we were to set out to find Mr Tumnus.
First of all, we worked in groups of 4, nominating one person to be the summariser.
Then, we joined with another group and the summariser fed back about what they had packed and the reasons why.
In Maths, Mrs Bewick asked for our help!
She had carried out a problem solving activity with Year 1 and the triangles became all mixed up so she wanted our help to sort them out back into sets!
It was not as easy as we thought it was going to be! We had to get 9 triangles to create a large one by matching up the tens frames but we ended up picking up duplicate ones so we had to keep swapping them until we had the triangles we needed.
It took a bit of time and perseverance but we got there in the end and Mrs Bewick now has her full sets back in order!
Finally, Walid played the theme tune to Harry Potter on his keyboard. He taught himself this at home and we were impressed. Great job Walid!
