“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. —Aristotle
Learning how to use many of the tools of the trade, is only the beginning. The process of transforming materials be they wood, ceramic, metal, marble, paper, acrylic, or more into sculpture, for me is the expression of exploration. Therefore exploring the medium is as essential as learning the tools it takes to manipulate it.
I am often drawn to the femininity that the composition represents. The curve of a line or form feels like an extension that flows from me into the piece. To me femininity is round and curvaceous, it can be smooth or rough, yet always moving like a river or a vine. The motion moving through a composition like a root growing through the ground. Identifying and embracing my femininity as a strength rather than a weakness has been part of my process.
My work strives to portray emotion and change using a 3D scope to look at the full figure.
