Week 3 - term 1a

This week in English, saw us writing in role as Grendel from Beowulf. The class were tasked with writing a character description of the monster before writing a diary entry in role as the misunderstood creature.

This contributed to our class assembly which we shared with the school and our families on Friday morning. We made some links between Beowulf and the personality traits we are trying to develop in all children at school.

In our humanities lesson this week, we had a go at drawing a scaled version of an Anglo Saxon village. Based on our model from last week, we worked out how big each building was using 1cm=1m.

In Art, we continued our brooch research and design work. Some of the brooches we’ve looked at have been so intricate and beautiful!

Our designs are coming along really nicely.

We continued to develop our passing skills and spatial awareness in rugby with Mr. Walker.

Thanks to everyone who came to our class assembly.

A huge well done to David on being this week’s Star of the Week. David has shown, all week, a fantastic attitude towards school and work. David contributes wonderfully to lessons too!

On Friday morning, we used a chat bot to help us gain a deeper understanding of what jobs Anglo Saxon’s did. We asked the bot questions and it provided lots of information we then used to write, in role, as an Anglo Saxon villager.

It was fun using the chat bot, lots of us had never spoken to one.
