Dear University community,
Happy New Year!
- I trust all had a memorable and reflective holiday and share our excitement about a New Year and a new semester at TAMIU this Spring.
- We’ve been busy readying for your return and have put together a Spring ’23 Preview website. Take a look at what we’ve planned for this semester, including interviews with our Deans.
- This Spring, we’re also introducing “Beyond Online,” a new series of online courses designed to astound, entertain and intrigue.
- The three courses that will initiate the new TAMIU Beyond Online Series include ENG 3371, “The Magic of Harry Potter,” CRIJ 4340, “Serial Killers in Film,” and CRIJ 4324, “Media and Crime.” There are no course prerequisites for these college-credit courses, but students must be enrolled for over 9 hours to qualify for the Series courses which must be part of their current semester schedule.
- As part of Beyond Online, our Class Plus Initiative can provide course cost assistance for students enrolled this Spring. To qualify for financial assistance, the addition of one of these classes must be to the student's currently existing schedule. This helps encourage expedited degree completion. Here’s more about Beyond Online.
- COVID-19 remains a threat here, across our State, nation, and world. Recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing can help reduce your exposure risk. Learn more about free on-campus testing. If you haven’t already, bookmark our COVID-19 Response Center.
- TAMIU Offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, 2023 in a State-authorized observance of Martin Luther King Day. Offices will reopen and Spring Semester 2023 classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 8 a.m.
We look forward to welcoming you home to TAMIU! Go Dustdevils!
- Pablo Arenaz, Ph.D., President
