CC Express video stories with Mark Christie

Session Intro and Overview

At the end of this session you will be able to create a video in Adobe Express and share it with yourself, friends or further. Using intuitive templates and provided music, themes, layouts and more make this a massively accessible experience for absolute beginners. You and your students will be impressed at what you can quickly create.

Concept

You can start with a blank screen or a template... I personally like the template idea.

This is an 8 minute video as I walk through the creation of a video using Express Video.

Some Examples

These are Adobe Express Videos I have created... not because I had to, but because they were easy fun and shareable.

You try it

You can try as much of the above as you like, but I would create a 5 slide/scene movie with...

  1. A Title
  2. Beginning - context setting
  3. Your main point
  4. A conclusion or summary slide
  5. Outro/Credits

Once completed, publish your video so we can view it... you just need to share the link in the Teams chat

Classroom Tips

  1. If you have a mixture of PCs and iPads and limited bandwidth, split usage between the downloaded apps on ipads (don't use bandwidth) and the web versions on the PC or Mac which do use internet bandwidth.
  2. If you have a shortage of devices, group students so some are in front of the camera, some are the camera operator and some direct or support. Swap roles where it suits and when it is possible.
  3. In a noisy classroom, split the tasks so that students can take an iPad or laptop to a quiet area to record. Others can be working on the images, text and layout which can be done with lots of noise.
  4. Create a brand or logo as part of the project so that students can create a sense of a brand
  5. Incorporate (as I have done here) Adobe Express videos into a centralised and consolidated Adobe Express page. This mixes text and photos with the videos providing an immersive multimedia experience. It also can be used as evidence of learning, a journal or showcase for parents or colleagues.

More than just video

Creative Cloud Express provides you with web versions of applications like Express Video maker, but did you know that you also get access to some great desktop and mobile versions of applications as well? Especially if you are a teacher or student.

Summary

CC Express video is a great video story starter tool for everyone. You can create from a web page or a dedicated app on your mobile device or tablet. You can share with the world or keep it to yourself, family or class. You can integrate your videos into CC Express pages, MS Teams, YouTube, Vimeo, Google, Office and more. The more you create, the more you want to create... and the products all look great. Try it out today!

As an added bit of interest, Adobe will be releasing a starter version of Adobe Character Animator which will be great for creating short opening scenes using a puppet. Here is one that I have used as closing summary for this session.

Okay - one last video... how to make rosella jam (or syrup).
